President Prabowo’s Overseas Visit Has Positive Impact on Indonesia’s Economic Growth and Equity

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto’s recent overseas trip marks a strategic step for Indonesia in strengthening its position on the global stage, while opening up wider economic opportunities. The visit, which involved a number of countries and multilateral meetings, is considered important in supporting the government’s vision to encourage equitable economic growth throughout Indonesia.

In an increasingly complex world, with geopolitical tensions and the challenges of climate change continuing to increase, Indonesia’s presence at various international meetings demonstrates the country’s determination to play an active role and collaborate in seeking sustainable global solutions.

Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, expressed his belief that President Prabowo’s visit would bring great benefits to Indonesia.

“We are highly optimistic that Mr. Prabowo’s visit will have a positive impact,” said Eddy.

He added that this visit not only strengthens diplomatic relations, but also shows Indonesia’s openness to foreign investment, especially in the sustainable economic sector, as well as its readiness to collaborate in dealing with the climate crisis.

President Prabowo began his working visit by visiting several countries for bilateral and multilateral meetings. Some of the main issues raised include the economy, investment, and global geopolitics.

“The president will visit China, the United States and the United Kingdom, and attend two summits, namely APEC in Peru and G20 in Brazil,” said Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communications Office.

Hasan added that this visit aims to expand cooperation that can improve the Indonesian economy.

During a visit to China, Indonesia and China agreed to increase cooperation by signing an investment of more than USD 10 billion. President Prabowo stated, “This is a very significant achievement,” which strengthens the strategic partnership of the two countries in various sectors. This cooperation, according to him, shows Indonesia’s seriousness in advancing relations with China.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained a number of discussions in Prabowo’s meeting with President Xi Jinping. “The bilateral discussions covered the blue economy, energy, and fisheries sector,” said Airlangga. In addition, major projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train and the construction of the Giant Sea Wall in northern Java were also discussed as part of Indonesia’s strategic initiatives.

Airlangga also highlighted the discussion on the development of the “Two Countries Twin Parks” area for industries in both countries. No less important, they discussed the implementation of “local currency settlement” to strengthen Indonesia’s economic stability. Support for this policy is expected to encourage more comprehensive and sustainable economic growth. []
