Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto’s working visit to China and the United States (US) has brought encouraging results for the Indonesian economy. The visit successfully produced various strategic agreements, including an investment worth 10.07 billion US dollars or around Rp157.64 trillion from China.
The investment is focused on priority sectors such as food security, energy security, downstreaming of 26 main commodities, and development of science and technology. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that this agreement shows strong trust from international investors in Indonesia.
“This agreement is a concrete step to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries while encouraging the government’s priority programs,” said Airlangga in his statement in Beijing, China.
In addition to the large investment, the Chinese government also expressed support for funding President Prabowo’s flagship program, namely Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). This program is designed to improve the quality of health and nutrition of the Indonesian people, especially in remote areas. “China fully supports the MBG program, because they already have successful experience in implementing it in their country,” added Airlangga.
The strategic cooperation also covers the blue economy sector, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Airlangga and Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao. This collaboration involves various sectors, such as the utilization of renewable marine energy, fisheries management, maritime tourism, and the development of the marine industry.
“This partnership is a momentum to utilize Indonesia’s great potential as an archipelagic country. With the support of marine technology from China, this cooperation will have a positive impact on national economic growth,” said Airlangga.
According to Indef Executive Director Esther Sri Astuti, President Prabowo’s visit to China and the US is a strategic step to increase trade and investment. “Trade relations with China have been strong since the era of President Jokowi. Now, it’s time to ensure a more profitable agreement for Indonesia,” she said.
The concrete results of this visit demonstrate President Prabowo’s commitment to strengthening international economic cooperation while encouraging equitable development in Indonesia.
