President Prabowo’s Working Visit Strengthens Global Economic Network for Economic Equality

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, conducted a series of working visits abroad to strengthen economic and diplomatic cooperation, with the aim of increasing national economic equality.

During his visit to Peru on Thursday, November 14, 2024, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of strategic international relations to support Indonesia’s economic growth to reach the target of 8%.

In their meeting with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, the two leaders agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of culture and economy. President Prabowo stated that Indonesia is ready to open market access for products from Peru as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.

“We hope to build strong bilateral relations and support Peru’s participation in ASEAN,” said President Prabowo, quoted from a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat.

As a follow-up, both countries are committed to completing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) within the next six months. President Prabowo is optimistic that the agreement can be signed during President Boluarte’s return visit to Indonesia.

During his visit, President Prabowo also received a courtesy call from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. This meeting is an important momentum to strengthen diplomatic relations and expand strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Australia.

“We consider Australia as a neighbor and a good friend of Indonesia. We will continue to increase cooperation in various fields, including Australia’s participation in the Indonesian economy,” President Prabowo said.

President Prabowo’s move has received support from the Golkar Party. Golkar Party DPP Chairman Dave Laksono stated that the President’s series of working visits are in line with his vision to make Indonesia a respected country on the international stage.

“President Prabowo has a big vision and mission regarding the development of Indonesia, To reduce poverty to 0% and increase economic growth to 8% at the current global level, close collaboration with all parties is needed. The steps taken by the president are the stages leading to that goal,” said Dave.

Meanwhile, UPH Professor of International Politics, Aleksius Jemadu, assessed the President’s overseas visit as a strategic step to ensure business certainty in the eyes of international investors.

“This is very important to achieve the economic growth target of 8%, especially through strengthening foreign investment,” he said.

By expanding the global economic network, President Prabowo shows a real commitment to creating economic equality and strengthening Indonesia’s position on the international stage.
