Christmas and New Year (Nataru) is a moment that is awaited by many people, not only as a time to gather with family, but also as an opportunity to take a vacation and celebrate. However, this happy moment also often brings its own challenges, especially in terms of security and smooth traffic flow.
This is where the importance of collaboration between various elements of society, from the government, police, to the private sector. All parties need to synergize so that the Nataru moment can take place safely, peacefully, and pleasantly for all parties.
With the active role of various parties, such as transportation service providers, security forces, and the general public, we can minimize various potential disruptions that can hinder smooth travel.
Not only that, this collaboration also includes counseling and education to the public about health protocols, traffic safety, and the importance of maintaining order. With thorough preparation and good coordination, it is hoped that this year’s Nataru can run smoothly, without any significant obstacles, and of course provide comfort for everyone who celebrates it.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Pratikno, highlighted the importance of anticipatory steps to face the rainy season which often brings the risk of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides.
Infrastructure preparation is the main focus. Pratikno emphasized that all trips during the Nataru holiday must be well managed, including the flow of homecoming and return, so that people can feel maximum comfort.
Coordination with local governments is an important element, especially in ensuring security in places of worship, tourist areas, and other public facilities. Every vulnerable point is closely monitored to prevent unwanted things. For example, the main transportation routes in areas prone to landslides are intensively monitored to ensure the safety of road users.
The North Sumatra Police have demonstrated their readiness through the implementation of Operation Lilin Toba 2024. In this operation, various elements were deployed to maintain security during the Nataru celebrations. The North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General. Pol. Whisnu Hermawan, through Senior Commissioner Pol. Hadi Wahyudi, said that intensive coordination was carried out with various parties, including related agencies, local governments, and the community.
This operation includes preparing personnel at strategic locations such as shopping centers, places of worship, and points prone to congestion. With this step, the public is expected to be able to enjoy the end-of-year holidays with a sense of security and comfort. Cross-sectoral meetings are also continuously held to synchronize comprehensive security measures.
The role of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) in ensuring the stability of telecommunications networks during the Nataru period is also in the spotlight. Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized that smooth communication is an essential part of community mobility. Strategic steps such as monitoring the frequency spectrum and providing digital information platforms are an integral part of the government’s readiness.
Kemkomdigi also works with the Ministry of Transportation to strengthen transportation management. The combination of integrated land, sea, and air transportation ensures that people can travel safely and comfortably. Technology support makes travel information more accessible, so that people can plan their trips more efficiently.
Transportation safety is also a top priority in preparing for Christmas and New Year. The Ministry of Transportation under the direction of Dudy Purwagandhi ensures that the main transportation routes are in good condition, although challenges such as potential landslides in several locations remain. To address this, the Ministry of Transportation provides real-time information through digital channels, so that people can plan their trips better.
In addition, various modes of transportation, including trains, buses, ships, and planes, are optimized to serve the public. The government ensures that each mode of transportation operates in accordance with strict safety standards. This effort aims to minimize the risk of accidents and ensure a comfortable journey for all users.
Collaboration between the central government, security forces, transportation and telecommunications sectors shows how important synergy is in creating a harmonious atmosphere during the year-end holidays. This joint commitment aims to provide a sense of security and comfort to the community. However, the success of this effort also depends on the role of individuals in maintaining order and being alert to potential disturbances.
The public is urged to remain vigilant against hoax news that often appears during the holidays. The government has provided various official information channels that can be used as references. Thus, the public can obtain accurate information and avoid unnecessary panic.
In the midst of this thorough preparation, great hopes are pinned that the entire series of Nataru celebrations will run smoothly. With solid synergy, challenges that may arise can be overcome effectively. The public is invited to help maintain a peaceful atmosphere so that Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 become meaningful moments for all groups.
With the spirit of togetherness and solid coordination, Nataru 2024/2025 is expected to be a moment that not only brings happiness, but also strengthens the sense of unity. Let’s work together to realize a safe, comfortable, and meaningful holiday for all.
