CIDISS – The entire traders of vegetable in the Karang Mulya market of Pangkalan Banteng district, Kotawaringin Barat admitted that they only sell imported garlic from China. As the result, the impact of rising commodity prices could not be unavoidable.
“Yes, all the onion is imported. Here (Karang Mulya market), it’s difficult to get local garlic. If there is local garlic, it has only limited goods and the seller must own order to Java,”said Ceping, one of the vegetable traders in karang mulya market, such in kaltengprokal.
Ceping added, current price of garlic already reach IDR 900 thousand per sack meanwhile the previous price only is IDR 650 thousand, and the most high price reach IDR 750 thousand.
Other seller, Dimas said that he sell garlic for IDR 50 thousand per kg – 55 thousand per kg. He claim, the dependable to the imported garlic from china, it makes the seller sell with high price.
The local garlic condition is also known as has not resistance and ease to rotten. It becomes another challenge for sellers.
“Imported garlic, if we buy with high price, we can’t resist the price. Not only garlic, but also onion follows the price. Onion today has price in IDR 40 thousand per kg,” said dimas.
