Jakarta — After the ratification of the Criminal Code Law by the Indonesian Parliament some time ago, the Menparekraf immediately emphasized that there was indeed no reduction at all regarding the number of tourists visiting Indonesia.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia (Menparekraf RI) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno emphasized that until now there has been absolutely no cancellation of visits by foreign tourists to Indonesia after the ratification of the new Criminal Code Law by the Indonesian Parliament.
He made this statement after commenting on the news that was recently circulating as if foreign tourists were immediately reluctant to come to the country after the existence of the morality article in the Criminal Code Law and seemed to affect tourism in Indonesia. “For business there have been no significant cancellations,” Sandi said.
So far, it is indeed regarding the article that regulates the private sphere in the Criminal Code Law that many fear that it will make Indonesia lose a lot of its tourists. However, Menparekraf has confirmed that the news is completely untrue. He himself has even checked the five countries that usually contribute the most tourists to Indonesia, namely Australia, Malaysia, America, India to England.
From the results of these checks, in fact, up to the latest data, the number of tourists is still in accordance with the target of the Government of Indonesia.
Henceforth, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will also be more active in checking and monitoring related to how tourism is developing after the ratification of the new Criminal Code Law.
For Sandiaga, the actual condition of tourism in Indonesia today, which is getting closer to the 2023 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays, is the peak for the increase in tourists. That way it becomes the best momentum for the recovery of the tourism sector in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, the Menparekraf then immediately invited many parties, including legal officials and lawyers to be able to continue to anticipate so that there would be no decrease in the number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia. In fact, Sandiaga himself immediately provided outreach to travel agents, tour operators and other parties so that they could continue to provide a sense of security and comfort for tourists.
Sandiaga stressed that actually Indonesia is a country that really respects the private rights of all its guests. The 53-year-old minister then compared that tourists have been given a red carpet like a king to be able to come to visit the country.
“Like a king, our red carpet has been rolled out for tourists,” he said.
For future efforts, the Menparekraf itself already has plans to be able to meet the Australian Ambassador soon.
He will assure all parties, including the government, tourists and foreign investors that the existence of a morality article in the newly passed Criminal Code will in no way hinder the needs of visitors coming to Indonesia.
Emphatically, Sandiaga guaranteed that all tourist activities would continue to be protected by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. “This is our step, and we will guarantee that tourism activities, their investment in the parekraf sector will be protected,” he said.
