Create a New Year Moment Without Disturbance, Apkam Prioritizes Public Safety

Surabaya – In the New Year celebration, the security forces affirmed their commitment to ensuring public safety remains a top priority. Various strategic steps have been taken to create a safe and conducive atmosphere for the entire community.


Director of Criminal Investigation of East Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner of Police (KBP), Budi Hermanto, conveyed the importance of the role of the community in supporting law enforcement and creating a conducive environment. Solid cooperation between the authorities and the community can realize the ideals of a more advanced, just, and prosperous nation.


“Together, we can realize a more advanced, just, and prosperous Indonesia, and free from the threat of crime that damages the social order,” said Budi Hermanto.
Budi also emphasized that the New Year’s momentum is a time for reflection and strategic steps to face future challenges. His party continues to prioritize the task of law enforcement by providing protection and a sense of security to the community.


“Let’s maintain peace, respect differences, and work hard for a better Indonesia in 2025,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Karyoto, reminded that securing Christmas and New Year (Nataru) is not only the task of the Police, but also the shared responsibility of all elements of society.


“The success of Nataru security is a shared responsibility. Solidarity and synergy are the main keys in carrying out tasks,” he said.


Operation Candle 2024, involving more than 141,605 joint personnel, has been launched to ensure security during the period from December 21, 2024 to January 2, 2025.


“We have set up security posts throughout the region to ensure smooth activities, including at 61,452 security objects such as churches, tourist attractions, and shopping centers,” Karyoto explained.
In West Sumatra, the West Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Suharyono, said that his party together with the Forkopimda Plus are focused on maintaining security at more than 75 churches, including 36 in Padang City.


He highlighted the importance of strict supervision of potential vulnerabilities during the long holiday.
“We are closely monitoring the activities of residents to prevent violations of the law, including drug abuse and the use of firecrackers,” Suharyono said.


He also reminded the public to remain vigilant against potential natural disasters that may occur.
