JAKARTA – The government’s readiness to welcome the 2024 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays, President Prabowo Subianto gave special instructions to ensure the readiness of the transportation sector and energy supply to support smooth public mobility. In his direction, the President emphasized the importance of cross-sector coordination to ensure public comfort and safety during the holiday period.
“The Christmas and New Year holidays are an important moment for many families in Indonesia. Therefore, I instruct all related parties, from local governments to state-owned enterprises, to ensure that all preparations run smoothly. Transportation, energy, and infrastructure aspects must be the main priority,” said President Prabowo.
The President emphasized that the success of the Nataru period requires close cooperation between the central and regional governments and state-owned enterprises.
Meanwhile, Pertamina’s President Director, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, revealed that the Nataru Task Force (Satgas) will start operating on December 16, 2024 to January 9, 2025 to anticipate the increase in energy needs. PT Pertamina (Persero) ensures that the national energy supply is in a safe condition ahead of Nataru.
“Pertamina has increased its stock reserves of BBM, LPG, and avtur to face the projected increase in demand during Nataru. We have also put 7,786 gas stations, 6,806 Pertashops on standby, and strengthened the distribution infrastructure,” Simon said.
The increase in the need for Gasoline (BBM) is estimated to increase by around 5 percent, while LPG for household consumption is predicted to increase by 2.7 percent. In addition, additional facilities such as Siaga Gas Stations and Pertamina Kiosks on strategic routes are also prepared.
Area Manager of Communication, Relations, and CSR of PT KPI Kilang Dumai, Agustiawan, explained that the Nataru Task Force will be active from December 18, 2024 to January 15, 2025. PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI) Subholding Refining and Petrochemical Kilang Dumai has also ensured operational readiness to guarantee energy supply.
“As of early December 2024, the Dumai Refinery and Sungai Pakning Refinery have produced more than 34.26 million barrels of superior products such as avtur, diesel, and MFO LS. Our performance even exceeded the production target, reaching 99.25 percent of the 2024 RKAP,” said Agustiawan.
Strategic steps such as routine patrols, product stock checks, and optimization of distribution infrastructure are taken to ensure smooth operations.
“We hope that this effort can support smooth public mobility during Christmas and New Year,” he added.
Meanwhile, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that all power plants, transmission networks, and distribution are on standby. PT PLN (Persero) confirmed the readiness of electricity supply to support transportation and community activities during Nataru
“We have prepared 2,490 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in 1,745 strategic locations to support electric vehicle mobility,” said Darmawan.
