Government Prepares Traffic Engineering Scheme for New Year Holidays

JAKARTA – The government through the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) together with the police and local governments have prepared a traffic engineering scheme to ensure smooth public mobility during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays.

This step aims to minimize congestion and potential traffic accidents, so that people can enjoy their holidays safely and comfortably.

Deputy Minister of Transportation, Suntana, stated that his party had coordinated various efforts with related agencies, including providing alternative routes for road users.

“Together with the local police and local government, we are trying to optimize services to ensure that traffic congestion and accidents can be resolved quickly,” said Suntana to the media crew at the Bogor Regency Nataru Security Post.

According to Suntana, the alternative route has been equipped with signs and safety lights to facilitate drivers. In addition, he emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a smooth, safe and comfortable holiday atmosphere for the community.

“We strive to continue to provide the best service so that people can enjoy their holidays without obstacles on the road,” he added.

In Aceh, the Aceh Police Traffic Directorate also held Operation Lilin Seulawah to support smooth traffic flow during the Nataru holidays.

Head of Operations Division of the Aceh Police Traffic Directorate, Hendry Ferdinand Kennedy, explained that the operation involved many parties, including the TNI, the Transportation Agency, and other stakeholders.

“We have prepared 32 security posts and 26 service posts spread across a number of points, including one integrated post at Sabang Port,” said Hendry.

These posts are expected to help regulate traffic while providing comfort for people on vacation.

Hendry added that Operation Lilin Seulawah was not only focused on traffic control, but also on providing services to the community.

“The main objective of this operation is to serve the public who want to have a safe holiday, as well as to provide security for Christmas worship,” he explained.

In addition to traffic management, the government also emphasizes the importance of safety education for drivers. Accident-prone routes are prioritized in the security scheme, and officers will always be on standby in the field to provide assistance if obstacles occur.

Suntana and Hendry agreed that solid coordination between agencies is key in dealing with the surge in mobility during this year-end holiday. This proactive step is expected to create a better holiday experience for people in various regions.

With these various efforts, the government is optimistic that it can provide a sense of security and comfort for people celebrating holidays or worshiping during the Christmas and New Year moments.

“We are committed to continuing to maintain safety, smoothness, and comfort for all Indonesian people,” concluded Suntana.
