KST Papua Cruelty Hurts Government’s Peaceful Approach

By: Rebecca Marian)*

The cruelty of the Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) to civilians and the TNI/Polri has been criticized by many parties. Apart from causing trauma, KST’s brutal actions have harmed the peaceful approach and welfare of the Government.

Papua is an area that cannot be separated from the government’s attention, especially in efforts to approach peace. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD emphasized that the government prioritizes a welfare approach to development in Papua. Mahfud said that the government generally uses a welfare approach, a peaceful approach, without violence, without weapons.

In addition, the government also puts forward an affirmation program in developing Papua. According to Mahfud, this is manifested in the plan to increase the special autonomy fund to 2.2% of the general allocation fund (DAU) ceiling next year. Currently, Papua’s special autonomy fund is 2% of the DAU.

The move by the government and security forces that no longer prioritizes the military approach is a good breakthrough in solving the problem of the Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) in Papua. Of course, the handling of the conflict in Papua, through a soft approach that prioritizes humanity, is proof of the government’s seriousness in embracing the people with love in the bosom of Mother Earth.

However, this peaceful approach turned out to be injured by the actions of KST Papua. Where in the past few days, KST is still carrying out terror and threats against people living in Puncak Regency, Papua. Casualties and material casualties were inevitable. Even some people prefer to leave Puncak and secure themselves to Timika City.

Over the commotion that occurred, one of the figures from the West Papua National Authority (WPNA) in the Domberai region, Markus Yenu, said he disagreed with the actions carried out by KST.

Yenu considered that what KST had done was a very reckless act and was not under careful consideration. Although his party claims that the victims who have been killed are part of the security forces’ spies, such actions are actually very detrimental.

This seems to show that the theorists of the armed criminal group (KKB) do not want the Papuan people to progress. In a period of 3 months, as many as 3 schools have been burned KST.

In fact, we all know that one of the government’s programs in advancing Papua is advancing the education sector. So the burning of this school is of course unforgivable. The three schools that were burned were an elementary school in the Kiwirok District, a Serambakon Middle School and a SMAN 1 Oksibil.

KST does not agree that education in Papua will progress, moreover, the burning of the three schools was carried out before dawn. Previously, KST had shot Second Sergeant Miskel Rumbiak Saereri who died after being shot. Serda Miskel Rumbika along with other members were attacked while carrying out a coaching task for the benefit of the local community in the East Aifat district. Four other soldiers were declared injured.

Previously, the former Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw, said that KST was a group of people who often grouped together and carried out security disturbances. Paulus emphasized that he always categorizes KST as a free man. His life is just violence, frightening everyone, threatening everyone with guns.

Of course the atrocities committed by KST, which used to be called KST, can no longer be tolerated. The state must also act or act immediately. So that the death toll among the Papuan people will no longer fall, the state must act decisively and measuredly.

With the existence of atrocities that clearly violate human rights, of course the state must be present with a clear goal, namely to protect Papuans so that they can live a normal life, without being overshadowed by terror and fear. When Papua returns to peace and conducive without conflict involving firearms, the government can calmly continue development on Cenderawasih Earth

One of the developments that has become a New icon is the construction of the Youtefa bridge in Jayapura, this bridge is also a landmark of collaborative activities between levels of government through funding cooperation involving the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget, State Sharia Securities, Provincial Revenue and Expenditure Budget and Revenue Budget. and District Expenditures.

The cruelty inscribed by KST seems to have hampered peace and development efforts. The current government uses a soft approach in the hope that Papua will become a land of peace, but of course KST deserves to be dissolved.
