The Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka administrations have shown a strong commitment to eradicating the threat of drugs and online gambling that are disturbing the Indonesian people. Various law enforcement agencies, such as the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), have been instructed to increase prevention and enforcement efforts, creating a safer and cleaner environment from the influence of organized crime.
President Prabowo Subianto showed his firmness by instructing all law enforcement elements to seriously eradicate online gambling. This was conveyed by the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, who emphasized that this eradication is a top priority that cannot be postponed. With the rapid development of technology, online gambling crimes continue to grow, threatening social and economic stability. The government sees the importance of measured steps to deal with online gambling perpetrators who often take advantage of legal loopholes and complex technological networks.
President Prabowo also emphasized that this eradication step will involve the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and other law enforcement officers. This collaborative effort between agencies is expected to be able to close the gaps exploited by online gambling perpetrators, so that Indonesia can avoid the social and economic dangers caused.
On the other hand, the Chief of Police, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed his staff to be more intensive in eradicating drugs. The Chief of Police highlighted that drug trafficking in Indonesia is increasingly disturbing, with increasingly complex entry routes and evolving modus operandi. Through this direct instruction, the Chief of Police requested that all police ranks in all regions map out distribution routes and identify vulnerable points that are often used by drug networks.
The Chief of Police also implemented a reward and punishment system as motivation for his staff in uncovering major drug-related cases. Those who succeed in eradicating large-scale distribution will receive appreciation, while members who fail to achieve the target will be evaluated. Not only that, the Chief of Police also said that police involved in drug abuse will be subject to severe sanctions, ranging from coaching to dismissal for those who repeat violations.
BNN plays a central role in eradicating drugs in Indonesia, especially through improving the quality of intelligence. BNN’s Deputy for Eradication, I Wayan Sugiri, said that the success of drug eradication is largely determined by the intelligence’s ability to collect information and analyze networks. Intelligence training conducted by BNN aims to improve the capacity of personnel to dismantle drug networks, especially those operating across national borders.
This training not only provides technical knowledge, but also improves the physical and mental resilience of BNN intelligence officers. It is hoped that they can identify and take action against drug networks more effectively. This step is part of BNN’s long-term strategy to increase the effectiveness of the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN), creating cross-agency synergy and international cooperation to close drug smuggling routes.
In addition to law enforcement measures, collaboration with the community is an important element in eradicating drug and online gambling crimes. The community can play an active role as informants and monitors, reporting suspicious activities in the surrounding environment. In addition, the role of families and educational institutions in providing education about the dangers of drugs and online gambling is also very significant in preventing the younger generation from falling into these crimes.
The government, under the leadership of Prabowo-Gibran, plans to involve the community more actively through various socialization and education programs in schools and communities. It is hoped that high public awareness of the dangers of drugs and online gambling will form strong social resilience. The government is also collaborating with community leaders, religious leaders, and youth organizations to convey moral and educational messages to build a culture free from drugs and online gambling.
The Prabowo-Gibran government has a big vision to realize an Indonesia free from drugs and online gambling, but the challenges faced are also not few. In addition to the complexity of international networks and the use of sophisticated technology by criminals, the lack of awareness of some people is a challenge in itself. Therefore, a collaborative approach between the community, government, and law enforcement is the key to achieving long-term success in this eradication effort.
In the future, it is hoped that the policies and firm steps taken by the Prabowo-Gibran government in eradicating drugs and online gambling will produce positive results, creating a safer and more conducive environment for the community. The government must also continue to open up space for dialogue with the community and strengthen cross-country cooperation to overcome this global threat. This joint effort will be a strong foundation for Indonesia in building a healthier and more productive generation, free from the influence of drugs and organized crime.
With the assertiveness of the government and the synergy of all components of the nation, the eradication of drugs and online gambling is no longer just a dream, but a concrete step towards a cleaner and more prosperous Indonesia.
