As of December 2024, Kemkomdigi has cumulatively blocked 5.4 million online gambling-related content.
“All of that, again, is the result of a collaboration. Without it, it would be impossible for us to do it alone,” he added.
Meanwhile, the North Sumatra Regional Police have also succeeded in cracking down on online gambling activities. The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, reported the arrest of seven people related to this case in the period from 14 to 22 December 2024.
“Seven people were arrested, consisting of six men and one woman,” explained Hadi.
Hadi added that five of the perpetrators acted as players, while the other two acted as agents.
“The type of online gambling played is slot gambling, a form of digital gambling that is popular but damages the social order,” he said.
During the raid, the police confiscated evidence in the form of four PC units, one CPU, three LCD monitor screens, a number of mobile phones, and cash.
“These items are concrete evidence of illegal activities that increasingly utilize technology to operate,” said Hadi.
It is hoped that this firm step will save the younger generation from the negative impacts of online gambling and create a better society.
