The security forces of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) are mapping various areas that are considered still vulnerable to the actions of Papuan separatist and terrorist groups (KST) and continue to improve all steps and strategies to ensure security in these areas.
It is known that there are five districts in Bumi Cenderawasih which are still considered very vulnerable to action from KST Papua until 2024. The mapping carried out was based on the barbaric actions that have often been carried out by KST in that area.
Head of the Damai Cartenz Task Force (Kasatgas), Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Faizal Ramadhani revealed that of the nine operational areas they had carried out, there were five areas that were quite prominent, namely in the Puncak Regency area, then in Nduga, Yahukimo, Bintang Mountains and also in the Intan Jaya area.
So far, the efforts made by the Indonesian security forces to continue to maintain security and a conducive situation in all regions throughout the country, including in Papua, have been very optimal. In fact, it is not just about mapping areas that are considered vulnerable to KST Papua action, but the security forces have also carried out mapping of various areas that are considered to have the potential for action by political criminal groups (KKP).
Meanwhile, several areas in Papua that are considered potentially vulnerable to KKP action are Jayapura, Jayawijaya and Timika. To this day, these three areas continue to be a barometer for various kinds of incidents of action carried out by political criminal groups.
On the other hand, the Cartenz Peace Task Force has also recorded at least 204 incidents carried out by KST Papua throughout 2023. Then of the total incidents mentioned, the terrorist groups in Bumi Cenderawasih often carry out their actions in Yahukimo Regency.
The data presented shows that August was the month with the most incidents or acts of disturbance carried out by KST Papua, namely 32 incidents. Meanwhile, the area with the most disturbance incidents was Yahukimo Regency with 38 disturbance incidents.
During 2023, the Cartenz Peace Task Force has also succeeded in confiscating a number of pieces of evidence from the hands of KST Papua. Not only that, the security forces also succeeded in occupying the KST headquarters, this is one of the many achievements of the Indonesian security forces which deserves very high appreciation.
The success of seizing weapons and occupying the headquarters of the separatist group is clear evidence that the power possessed by the security forces in the country cannot be underestimated. This is also proof that the security forces have so far applied very strict punishments to the perpetrators of terror, especially KST Papua.
Security forces also succeeded in occupying or controlling the headquarters of groups of parties who have opposing ideologies to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) with as many as 42 KST Papua headquarters points.
With there still being several areas which often become areas where KST Papua intensifies their actions, of course the security efforts carried out by the security forces will not be optimally successful if carried out by just one party. Therefore, the security apparatus itself requires active collaboration from various other parties.
The security forces have achieved success so far thanks to the excellent cooperation of all joint personnel of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). According to the Head of Public Relations of the Regional Police (Kabid Humas Polda) Papua, Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Ignatius Benny Adi Prabowo, this synergy is very important to further increase security patrols.
Security forces from joint TNI and Polri personnel also continue to monitor the movements carried out by KST Papua by increasing security patrols and also carrying out strict and measurable law enforcement for groups that have often carried out acts of terror, including shooting security forces. itself even targeting completely innocent civilians.
Increasing security in Papua continues to be carried out, one of the efforts or strategies developed by the security forces to realize this is by mapping various areas that are considered still very vulnerable to attacks or disturbances from KST Papua.
