Surabaya – East Java Regional Police declared war on online and conventional gambling. This was conveyed by the East Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Drs Imam Sugianto that his party is committed to realizing the 100-day work program of President Prabowo Subianto known as Asta Cita.
“No tolerance, no negotiation, we will take firm action and declare war on gambling cases,” said Imam firmly.
In addition, the Regional Police Chief also advised all levels of society from the lower to the upper classes to work together and commit to prioritizing efforts to prevent gambling. Prevention of gambling is the most important thing.
“So it’s not downstream that we eradicate, because it will never end if it is left upstream,” he explained.
The East Java Regional Police Chief explained to the public to provide understanding to children at an early age and to start instilling thoughts related to all religions indeed forbid online gambling and damage the joints of the economy that we are building and strengthening.
“How do we instill a message to the community at all levels to work together to make prevention efforts, especially among ourselves,” he said.
Imam also said that online gambling advertisements are currently massive through social media. Therefore, he appealed to all parties to be wiser in using social media.
“Including what we hold, cellphones, laptops or computers that are online on the internet, suddenly various online gambling advertisements appear, that’s what we have to be aware of,” he added.
In addition, the Regional Police Chief also advised the entire community, to maintain at least the smallest scope in each family.
“How to instill values, from children to adults, that gambling is something that is prohibited, both by religion and by the state,” said Imam.
The government through the security forces is committed to strengthening efforts to eradicate online gambling as a whole, with the aim of protecting the community, especially the younger generation, from the negative impacts of online gambling which are increasingly rampant.
The steps taken by the Government can raise awareness of all parties and reduce the negative impacts that can threaten the morality and social stability of the Indonesian people.
