Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) continues to intensify efforts to eradicate drug syndicates by taking firm action against perpetrators of illegal drug trafficking in Indonesia.
In the past month, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has managed to uncover three major cases. The three cases occurred in various regions, namely West Java, Bali, and Jakarta.
“In this case, we may convey three prominent drug case disclosures that have been reported some time ago or perhaps partially released,” said General Sigit.
The first case that was successfully uncovered was the raid on an excimer hard drug factory in Tasikmalaya, West Java.
A total of nine people were arrested in this operation, including the controller, financier, mixer and printer of the pills.
From the results of the raid, the police managed to secure one million paper drug pills with a value of around IDR 700 million.
The second case involved the distribution of crystal methamphetamine by an Afghan network which was uncovered in Kampung Ambon, West Jakarta, on November 17, 2024.
The police managed to secure 389 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine estimated to be worth around Rp800 billion. In this operation, one suspect was successfully secured, and the development of the case is still ongoing.
“And of course we can save the community from the abuse of drug use amounting to 2.2 million people,” said the Chief of Police.
The third case is the dismantling of a secret hashish laboratory in Uluwatu, Bali, on November 8, 2024.
Four suspects were arrested in this disclosure. Police confiscated evidence in the form of 1,163,210 Happy Five pills, 132.9 kilograms of hashish, 7,365 vape cartridges, and 17 machines with a total estimated evidence value of Rp1.52 trillion.
“If released, this evidence will impact 1.49 million people,” explained General Sigit.
The Chief of Police added that from all the evidence that was successfully secured, the total could save around 10 million Indonesians from drug abuse.
In addition to uncovering the drug syndicate, the East Java BNNP also searched the house of Aiptu Arif Susilo, a member of the Tanjung Perak Port Police in Surabaya, who is suspected of being involved in an international drug network.
Evidence was found in the form of four account books in the name of Arif.
Arif is suspected of controlling a drug trafficking network connecting North Sumatra, Surabaya and NTB.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, emphasized that there is no tolerance for police officers involved in this illegal activity.
“If any individuals are found involved in supporting this illegal activity, they will be processed legally (criminal justice) and the code of ethics of the service without exception!” Wahyu emphasized.
Wahyu added that his party will ensure that all forms of drug crimes are processed firmly and thoroughly. Given that drug eradication is included in President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program.
