The recent terrorist arrest operation carried out by the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police in Majalengka and Tasikmalaya is real evidence of the security forces’ readiness in maintaining stability ahead of the New Year. In an effort to ensure that the public can celebrate the New Year 2025 safely and conducively, this swift action has received appreciation from various parties.
Four suspected terrorists were successfully secured in a series of operations in Majalengka. Head of PIDM Sub-section of Public Relations of Majalengka Police, Ipda Riyana, stated that his party accompanied Densus 88 in the arrest process in several different locations, including searches of the suspects’ homes. This operation is part of a series of uncovering terrorist networks in Tasikmalaya.
Majalengka Police have committed to tightening security in the area, especially ahead of New Year’s Eve. He also appealed to the public to remain calm and not panic, while emphasizing the readiness of the authorities to maintain security. This statement shows the courage of the authorities to face the threat of terrorism in order to maintain stability in society.
Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani appreciated the performance of Densus 88 Polri. According to her, the preparedness steps taken by the security forces have saved the future of the nation. Moreover, when talking about the targets of terrorist groups, they tend to massively recruit new members by brainwashing the young generation of the nation’s successors who are still psychologically unstable.
Densus 88’s efforts not only succeeded in thwarting potential acts of terrorism, but also strengthened public trust in the performance of security forces. The arrests were accompanied by intensive security in strategic locations, including places of worship, terminals, and train stations.
Therefore, with the preparedness of the security forces, it is not only able to save the continuity and stability of domestic security, but also helps save the young generation of the nation’s successors from the threat of radicalism, separatism and terrorism.
The fact that someone who seems ordinary is involved in a terrorist network is a reminder that threats can come from anywhere. The steps taken by the authorities to anticipate this threat are commendable because they were able to thwart the potential for a larger action.
The government also appreciates the support of the community who play an active role in reporting suspicious activities in the surrounding environment. Synergy between security forces and the community is considered a key factor in maintaining stability after the arrest of terrorist suspects.
In addition to Majalengka, Densus 88 also managed to arrest a suspected terrorist in Tasikmalaya. The arrest was made in Jayaratu Village, Sariwangi District, at almost the same time as the operation in Majalengka. Tasikmalaya Police Chief, AKBP Haris Dinzah, confirmed that the man had been secured and his identity was still being investigated.
Haris explained that the arrests were the result of cooperation between various parties to ensure public safety, especially ahead of important moments such as New Year’s Eve. This series of arrests shows that security forces continue to increase their vigilance against threats that have the potential to disrupt national stability. The quick steps taken by Densus 88 together with the Majalengka Police and Tasikmalaya Police are a real manifestation of the commitment to maintaining public safety and comfort.
The New Year’s Eve moment is often an easy target for certain groups to create unrest. However, with operations like this, the public can feel calmer. Appreciation for the readiness of the authorities needs to be given, considering that the threats that were successfully thwarted could have had a greater impact if not acted upon quickly.
Regional security ahead of the New Year celebrations is the main priority of the security forces. The arrest of four suspected terrorists in Majalengka and one in Tasikmalaya is proof that preventive efforts continue to be carried out intensively. Searches of the homes of suspected terrorists also indicate seriousness in uncovering a wider network.
