President Prabowo Subianto continues to demonstrate his commitment to eradicating the circulation of narcotics that threaten the stability of the nation and damage the future of the younger generation. On various occasions, the eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia emphasized that narcotics are not only a threat to individuals, but also to national resilience. Therefore, he took firm steps to strengthen supervision and encourage cross-institutional collaboration to face the increasingly complex dangers of narcotics.
As a national leader who is also a retired high-ranking Indonesian military officer, President Prabowo understands the importance of a strategic approach to combating the drug threat.
In a coordination meeting with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), he emphasized the implementation of four main strategies in eradicating drugs. The strategies include instilling anti-narcotics values from an early age, using advanced technology for prevention, taking firm action against perpetrators, and actively collaborating with various elements of society.
President Prabowo also stated that the participation of all levels of society is very important in the war against drugs. He believes that active community involvement can be the main bulwark to protect the environment from the dangers of drugs.
According to the Head of State, only with strong synergy between the government, private sector, and society, Indonesia can create a cleaner, safer, and healthier future for future generations.
Eradicating drugs in Indonesia requires a comprehensive approach. President Prabowo said that this problem cannot be solved partially, but requires solid cross-agency cooperation.
In his briefing to the Red and White Cabinet, he instructed strategic institutions such as the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Attorney General’s Office, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to strengthen efforts to eradicate drugs, online gambling, and other serious crimes. The move aims to build a firm and strong intelligence-based law enforcement system.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo highlighted the main challenge in drug control, namely the involvement of perpetrators from behind bars. According to him, a number of cases show that drug control is often carried out by prisoners in correctional institutions, with the help of certain prison officers.
To that end, the National Police have established cooperation with the Directorate of Corrections and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to strengthen supervision in prisons. This synergy is expected to close the gaps that have been exploited by drug networks.
President Prabowo paid special attention to this issue by asking law enforcement officers to be more serious in eradicating drug trafficking. He emphasized that every perpetrator must be processed according to applicable law in order to provide a deterrent effect. Support from strong intelligence and adequate evidence collection are also priorities so that drug networks can be dismantled to the roots.
Ahwil Luthan, BNN Expert Group Coordinator, said that drug trafficking is an asymmetric challenge that is often difficult to detect. According to him, the eradication strategy must be carried out sustainably and involve all sectors, including education and strengthening the role of the family. Ahwil emphasized that drug smuggling through the border is also a major challenge, especially from the Golden Triangle area. Therefore, supervision in border areas must be tightened to prevent the entry of these illicit goods into Indonesia.
In addition, President Prabowo has shown great concern for public education. He believes that instilling anti-drug values from an early age can be an effective preventive measure.
Through the Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Distribution of Drugs (P4GN) program, the government hopes that the public will have a higher awareness of the dangers of drugs. This program also targets school environments, workplaces, and communities to become zones free from drug distribution.
Support for President Prabowo’s steps also came from the General Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH Anwar Iskandar. He considered drugs as a serious threat that weakens the intelligence and morals of society.
In his view, drug eradication must be carried out with a comprehensive approach and involve all elements of the nation. He is optimistic that under President Prabowo’s leadership, Indonesia can soon be free from drug trafficking which has been a scourge for the nation.
President Prabowo Subianto understands that the challenge of fighting drugs requires courage, decisiveness, and innovation. With the support of sophisticated technology, the government hopes to be able to monitor and prevent drug trafficking more effectively. In addition, collaboration with neighboring countries is also a priority in breaking the international network that has been supplying drugs to Indonesia.
The firm steps taken by President Prabowo not only reflect his commitment as a national leader born in 1951, but also as a patriot who prioritizes the future of the younger generation.
The dangers of drugs that damage the social, economic, and political stability of the nation must not be allowed to continue. Therefore, President Prabowo continues to encourage the strengthening of supervision and eradication of drugs with the spirit of building a more advanced and dignified Indonesia.
With strategic steps and support from various parties, the hope of realizing a drug-free Indonesia is increasingly real. The government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto is determined not only to eradicate drugs, but also to create a healthy, intelligent, and empowered generation in facing global challenges.
