Welcoming the New Year Safely and Conducively is a Shared Responsibility

SURABAYA – Celebrating New Year 2025 requires synergy from all elements of society to create a safe, comfortable, and conducive atmosphere.

This was conveyed by the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the East Java Regional Police, Grand Commissioner of Police (KBP) Budi Hermanto, who emphasized the importance of public support for law enforcement and security efforts.

“Together, we can realize a more advanced, just and prosperous Indonesia, and free from the threat of crime that damages the social order,” said KBP Budi Hermanto.

He also added that the momentum of the new year is a reflection of the journey that has been taken as well as planning for future steps.

As part of the National Police institution, Kombes Buher, as he is familiarly called, ensures full commitment to maintaining security.

“We continue to strive to enforce the law, provide protection and create a sense of security for all levels of society,” he said.

He invited all elements to work together to maintain peace, respect differences, and work hard for a better Indonesia in the coming year.

Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Karyoto, emphasized that securing New Year’s celebrations is a shared responsibility.

According to him, the success of Operation Lilin 2024 which was held from December 21 to January 2 involved 141,605 joint personnel from the Police, TNI, and other stakeholders.

“The success of Nataru security is a shared responsibility. Solidarity and synergy between institutions are the main keys to the success of the operation,” said Karyoto.

He also highlighted the positive impact of successful security on the national economic cycle.

In addition, thousands of security and service posts spread throughout the region aim to ensure public comfort in celebrating the New Year.

In West Sumatra, Governor Mahyeldi appreciated the efforts of all parties who maintained conducive conditions throughout 2024.

He emphasized that creating a sense of security for residents celebrating Christmas is a shared responsibility.

“We must provide a conducive atmosphere so that our brothers and sisters feel comfortable,” he said.

It is hoped that the ongoing joint support will be able to maintain a safe and peaceful atmosphere, so that the New Year celebrations can take place with full happiness and blessings.
