Investigators have got some evidences from witnesses, experts, and the complainant in the reports of blasphemy issue committed by Ahok. But until now, the FPI has not met The Polri Investigators even the invitation was sent. This was confirmed by the National Police Chief, Jenderal Pol Tito Karnavian stated that FPI delay the investigation related to the Ahok case, even though he wants fast. Police Chief hoped that the complainant or witnesses are asked to be cooperative in the investigation, so that case could be dealt with immediately and can be concluded whether there was a criminal act or not.
Ahok accused of debasing religion by quoting the Holy Book letter, Al-Qur’an which part on Al-Maidah on verse 51 along with a few sentences deemed to Islam. From the surface, the case is related to religion. However, many people are also speaking that was a political provocative, so the police who handle that case are carefully for evidence.
So far, police received eight reports from the public. All the reports were handled by the Criminal Investigation Police.
Previous Ahok Criminal investigators had questioned his own request. Investigators also have got some evidences from Ahok staff requested clarification about Ahok speech quoting the Holy Book letter, Al Maidah verse 51 during a working visit in the Thousand Islands Regency. Investigators have also been asked some statements of several citizens of the Thousand Islands Regency.
Ahok has denied doing blasphemy. However, he uttered an apology to Muslims. Ahok was not the people who are anti or hostile to religion, including Islam. He said, during his reign, many Madrasah which received assistance from the Government of Jakarta.
Responding to the development of national issues, President Joko Widodo spoke about the planned demonstration to be carried out by Islamic organizations on November 4, 2016. The demo is to ask the police to investigate the case of candidates for Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama deemed to have been an insult to religion.
Jokowi said that the demonstration is a democratic right of citizens, but not the right to impose their will and not the right to damage. The Government will guarantee the right of expression of every citizen. However, the government will give priority to public order.
Accordingly, the National Police Chief, Jenderal Pol Tito Karnavian ask the community who rallied to voice their aspirations in peace and conducive to do not get an anarchistic acts because there are some persons who slip particular political interest to cause turmoil in society in that issue.
