JAKARTA – The implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections in Indonesia has recorded a great success, marked by orderly implementation and maintained security. This success is recognized as the result of cooperation between all parties, including organizers, government, security forces, and the community.
Member of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), Idham Holik, expressed his appreciation when closing the National Coordination Meeting regarding the determination of the elected candidate pair in Bali. This success is an important milestone in the history of Indonesian democracy.
“We hope that this award can inspire all parties to continue to support the implementation of the next stages with the same spirit,” said Idham.
Idham also appreciated the role of ad hoc organizers such as PPK, PPS, and KPPS who have worked hard. He reminded that the criticism received can be used as a lesson for future improvements.
“Criticism is an early warning system. We have to show that we are able to improve what needs to be improved,” he added.
Head of the National Unity and Politics (Kesbangpol) of North Sulawesi, Jhonny Suak, also gave his appreciation to the parties involved in ensuring that the Simultaneous Pilkada in the region took place conducively. Solid cooperation between the organizing team, political parties, and local governments is the key to success.
“We greatly appreciate the collective efforts that have ensured the smooth running of all stages, from registration to voting,” said Jhonny Suak.
Jhonny also highlighted the significant role of the KPU and Bawaslu, as well as the support of the TNI and Polri in maintaining stability during the election process and appealed to the public to continue to monitor the results of the Pilkada and support the new leadership in the region.
“This significant role is the coordination of all parties in maintaining stability during the election process. To continue to monitor the results of the Pilkada and support the new leader,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Riau Province, Riau Police Chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal explained that the success of the 2024 General Election and Regional Election in his region was inseparable from the “cooling system” program designed to maintain security stability.
“We prioritize a humanist approach through various activities, such as joint prayers, competitions, and discussions to create a harmonious atmosphere,” he explained.
Iqbal also said that tight security and a humanist approach are effective strategies to provide a sense of security to the community.
“This success is the fruit of hard work together, both security forces and the community,” he concluded.
