Jakarta – Various threats are targeting the Indonesian nation ahead of the upcoming 2024 General Election democracy party. For this reason, Pancasila as the unifier of the Republic of Indonesia must continue to be applied and practiced in the life of society, nation and state.
Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Sidarto Danusubroto said that after the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic was over, the threat of intolerance, radicalism and terrorism (IRT) was also very dangerous.
“Research results say that IRT is relatively capable of infiltrating the state civil apparatus [ASN] in various institutions. In fact, it is suspected that radicalism has penetrated TNI-Polri personnel,” he said in an FGD discussion themed “Pancasila: Dynamics and Challenges Faced?” which was held by the Moya Institute at the Gran Melia Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (25/5).
Sidarto added that the Indonesian people were not ready to face Western democracy.
“Now our democracy is NPWP: Number Piro Wani Piro. I have been a member of the Republic of Indonesia DPR for three terms. When the system closed, I was easily selected. When the system was opened, people here started to fight with money,” said Sudarto.
In fact, he continued, the people were educated to wait for the “dawn attack”. This, emphasized Sudarto, actually does not educate for the maturation of democracy so it must be removed.
Sidarto was of the opinion that only the President and DPR RI should be directly elected. He explained the potential for money politics to occur if regional heads were directly elected.
“If they are elected directly, what will happen like now, for example the position of governor could require hundreds of billions of funds, regents tens of billions, whose funds are supported by bohirs and financiers. Development is also supported by the financiers, so the quality can be questioned,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Chairman of the State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN) Agus Pramusinto revealed that one of the challenges faced by Pancasila was division due to differences in political choices. Added to this is the spread of corruption cases, and the immoral acts of some police officers.
“In the process of administering government, KASN maintains the application of the merit system principle and oversees the implementation of the basic values, code of ethics and code of conduct of ASN,” said Agus.
Agus explained, this was to ensure that the ideology of Pancasila and nationalism, as well as the function of ASN as the unifying glue for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, were still carried out by all ASNs in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Observer of National and Global Strategic Issues Prof. Ambassador Imron Cotan said that every five years Indonesia’s ideology is tested for its flexibility.
“If the nation fails to maintain its flexibility and continues to be battered and hit at any time by divisive politics, the existence of Pancasila can be threatened and Indonesia has the potential to become a failed state,” said Imron.
Another speaker, Secretary General of the Gelora Party Mahfudz Sidiq explained that the long journey of Pancasila ideology guarding the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia for 78 years has produced extraordinary achievements and has survived to this day as an advanced and modern nation state.
