Jakarta – Political analyst Ujang Komarudin said that President Prabowo Subianto’s inaugural diplomatic visits to China and the United States, as well as other countries, are part of efforts to make the Republic of Indonesia a global player or a country that is increasingly taken into account on the international stage.
According to him, President Prabowo is trying to maintain world balance and also become a global player.
“I see that what the Head of State is doing is part of making Indonesia a global player, an international player in the context of politics, economy, and security,” he said in Jakarta.
He added that the main mission of Prabowo’s visit is to establish strategic partnerships with the countries to be visited. Therefore, he considers this diplomatic visit as a positive tour to affirm Indonesia’s sovereignty in the eyes of the world.
“I see this as something positive, something good to affirm that Indonesia has sovereignty, that Indonesia is on par with other countries. Indonesia must have an important role in the context of international political relations,” he said.
Similar sentiments were expressed by the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid. “The President emphasized that this visit is a manifestation of Indonesia’s role in the international world. Indonesia’s request to be present in bilateral and multilateral meetings shows that Indonesia is highly respected and its role is awaited by the whole world,” Meutya explained.
The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs said that President Prabowo Subianto’s two-week visit has significant meaning as a momentum for increasing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
“Indonesia will play a role in bridging the interests of developing countries with developed countries. Of course, within the framework of good neighbor policy,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to cooperate with the new Indonesian government to continue improving themselves, solidarity, and mutually beneficial cooperation among developing countries.
Xi emphasized that China and Indonesia must consolidate high-level strategic trust, enhance high-level exchanges and cooperation between governments and legislative bodies and at the sub-national level.
In addition, Xi asked both parties to further improve the layout of strategic cooperation and promote cooperation on the “five pillars” namely politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, maritime affairs, and security.
He also stated that China is ready to work with Indonesia to build more projects for the benefit of the people.
This cooperation includes strengthening exchanges and cooperation in poverty alleviation, medicine, wheat cultivation, and fisheries, providing support for scientific personnel training and vocational education development in Indonesia, as well as introducing more facilitation measures to expand personnel exchanges.
