Indonesia will host the world inter-parliamentary session (Inter-Parliamentary Union/IPU) on March 20-24, 2022. This international trust shows Indonesia’s success in handling the pandemic and is ready to receive international visits.

A golden opportunity for Indonesia to be able to show how professional we are in the eyes of the world is when the 144th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is held. Karyono Wibowo as Executive Director of the Indonesia Public Institute said that Puan Maharani as the leader of the DPR RI delegation must be able to mandate this most strategic momentum. We can prove it by how smooth the trial went without any obstacles.

The first professionalism that can be raised by Puan so that it can add to the good image of Indonesia in the eyes of the world is how successful we are in improving the economy during the shock of the Covid-19 pandemic. Of course, the whole world will immediately focus on positive impressions if we can explicitly present it, moreover, it is planned that the event will be attended by hundreds of parliamentary delegates from various countries.

The success of handling the pandemic will indeed be one of the things that according to Karyono is very appropriate to be appointed because it is an achievement that we have achieved. In fact, according to him, it is not only about the image of Indonesia, but the image of the founding father of our nation, Soekarno, will also be lifted if Puan as his grandson can very well take advantage of that momentum. The quality of the PDI-Struggle Party politician as Chairman of the DPR will also be at stake.

In line with what has been stated by Karyono, Putu Supadma as Deputy Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) also stated the same thing, that the momentum of the world parliamentary session will be very appropriate to be able to show how our professionalism has succeeded in overcoming various problems. challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Moreover, it coincided that the 144th IPU agenda carried a big theme regarding the issue of climate change and great attention to the issue of environmental damage, which is a fact that the Balinese people have been very aware of since the time of their ancestors. We can show our prowess in terms of culture when we have always had local wisdom that we already have a rice field irrigation system, namely Subak, which is not only powerful and effective, but also environmentally friendly.

Regarding efforts to eradicate the transmission of the Covid-19 pandemic chain itself, Indonesia can also very confidently show how professional it is because the implementation of health protocols has been very maximally echoed in Bali as the venue for the 144th IPU. Not only that, but also added by Putu Supadma that the level of vaccination that has been distributed to the entire community is also in a very maximum number as well. Starting from the first dose of vaccine, the second dose even with a booster vaccine dose. Therefore, Bali is very professional and very ready to welcome visits from various countries.

Even the readiness to be able to welcome the participants of the international delegation has also been carried out by tourism stakeholders on the Island of the Gods, including tourism actors and the Balinese people themselves are also very much looking forward to their arrival, according to Putu. Of course, all of this is not without reason, but the readiness that has been carried out for a long time and shows how professional we are in handling the pandemic.

It is known that even when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, Bali was one of the most affected areas, causing all international travel to decrease in number and of course having a direct impact on the region’s economy. But now, thanks to the efforts of all parties, Bali is slowly getting back on its feet and will prepare everything to build our positive image in the eyes of the world.

Putu Supadma who is also a Member of Commission VI of the DPR RI has even echoed that Indonesia is very ready to receive visits from various countries and is very open to the presence of the 144th IPU participants because of the various professionalisms that we have been trying for a long time.
