Jakarta – The 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) has become one of the most important democratic moments for the journey of the Indonesian nation. In the post-Pilkada situation, where heated social dynamics often arise, the role of all elements of society such as religious leaders and youth is very vital in creating calm and maintaining unity.
Religious figures have a great influence in shaping the narrative of peace and tolerance in society. Religious leader, Ustadz Abdul Somad, in his recent sermon reminded the importance of maintaining Islamic brotherhood and nationalism after the regional elections.
“Differences in political choices are part of grace and not a reason to break off ties, furthermore, it is important to maintain the unity of the people, especially amidst the various differences that exist, especially after the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada,” he said.
In addition, the General Chairperson of Laskar Manguni Indonesia (LMI), Reverend Hanny Pantouw stated the importance of maintaining the stability of security and public order after the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections.
“We urge the public to wait for the official results from the General Election Commission (KPU), so that unverified information does not create conflict or damage the social harmony that has been well established so far,” said Pastor Hanny.
On the other hand, community leaders have a strategic role in bridging various groups in society that may be divided due to differences in political choices. Through activities such as public dialogue, community discussions, or joint social actions, community leaders can encourage the creation of inclusive communication spaces. This is important to reduce the potential for horizontal conflict that often occurs after the regional elections.
The role of youth is also no less important. The young generation who are tech-savvy can be the driving force in spreading positive messages through social media. This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the East Nusa Tenggara Youth Forum (FP-NTT) Jakarta, Yohanes Hiba Ndale, who said that the smooth implementation of the 2024 Pilkada must continue to be maintained by continuing to maintain unity and accepting the results of the 2024 Pilkada with an open heart.
“After the regional election results are announced, I hope that the community will not be divided, but instead strengthen togetherness to support whoever is elected regional head,” he said.
In the post-election situation, various elements of society must work together to maintain social stability. Close cooperation between religious figures, the community, and youth can be a solid foundation for building peace and reducing friction that occurs. That way, Indonesian democracy does not only end in the voting process, but also produces a society that is increasingly mature in appreciating differences so that it can improve the progress of its region.
Let’s make the 2024 Pilkada a shared lesson to continue strengthening national unity. The active role of religious figures, society, and youth is the main key to a peaceful and harmonious Indonesia. Greetings of Unity for Golden Indonesia 2045 !!!. [*]
