Prabowo-Gibran Government Guarantees National Energy Availability Ahead of Christmas and New Year

Jakarta – Ahead of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) celebrations, governments from various sectors have ensured their readiness to support smooth public mobility. PT Pertamina (Persero) and the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) play an important role in ensuring the availability of energy and smooth communication during this holiday period.

Pertamina’s President Director, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, said that the Nataru Task Force (Satgas) had been formed and would operate from December 16, 2024 to January 9, 202

“We have taken anticipatory steps to face the surge in energy needs, by ensuring that reserves of fuel oil (BBM), LPG, and Avtur are well maintained,” said Simon.

He also conveyed the projection of energy needs during the Task Force.
“The demand for fuel is predicted to increase by around 5 percent from the normal average, while diesel is predicted to decrease by 3.3 percent due to operational restrictions on freight vehicles. The need for LPG for households is predicted to increase by around 2.7 percent,” he added.

Pertamina has prepared thousands of facilities, such as gas stations, Pertashop, LPG agents, and digital systems such as Pertamina Digital Hub to monitor energy distribution in real-time.

“Through this system, the distribution of fuel and LPG can be guaranteed according to the specified quantity and quality,” explained Simon.

In addition, Pertamina supports air transportation by lowering Avtur prices at 19 airports during December. Pelita Air also increased flight seat capacity by 44 percent to meet the needs of people’s travel.

Kemkomdigi also ensures the stability of the telecommunications network. Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, said that her party has coordinated with telecommunications operators to ensure smooth communication during the Nataru holidays.

“We ensure that cellular networks, internet and data communications remain stable, especially on main transportation routes and areas that are predicted to be congested,” he said.

In addition, Kemkomdigi collaborates with the Ministry of Transportation to optimize the use of the Mudikpedia digital channel. This channel provides map information, online transportation, and emergency contacts, to make it easier for people to travel.

Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, added that the safety and comfort aspects of travelers are the main priority. “We guarantee that all modes of transportation, whether land, sea, or air, are ready to meet the needs of the community,” explained Dudy.

With the synergy between Pertamina, Kemkomdigi, and the Ministry of Transportation, the government is optimistic that the implementation of the Nataru holiday will run smoothly and comfortably. The public is also advised to be aware of hoaxes that can trigger unrest, so that the celebration of Christmas and New Year 2025 can be celebrated peacefully and joyfully. {*}
