Papua, CIDISS.CO – Young Papuan leader who is also the Chairman of the Papuan People’s Information Barn (LIRA) Steve Mara said the expansion of 3 Papua Provinces would definitely accelerate development because it shortens the span of control of the local government, which has been too broad in scope. The division is important so that monitoring to remote areas can run well and development can be more evenly distributed in the Papua region, which is known to have a very wide geographical location.
This was revealed by Steve Mara during an Online Dialogue in the Highlight Program on Matoa TV, Tuesday, 19/7.
Steve Mara said that before the New Autonomous Region (DOB) Bill was passed so that it became a law, the process had all been running. The government has opened up space for the public to speak in hearings from various figures in Papua to provide suggestions and input.
“There are many pros and cons dynamics before and after the ratification of the new autonomous region law is a common thing in the course of all laws, not much different from in some other areas as well,” said Steve.
With this expansion, it has created a new ecosystem where I think this ecosystem is more useful, the monitoring process from the province to the city district is easier, indirectly affects the Human Development Index, accelerates development, will open up the Papuan people that there is a development process given by the central government to “But so far it has not been implemented well because it is indeed difficult to control,” said the head of the Papua Province LIRA.
Steve gave an example in the field of Education, the process of supervision of teachers is still very lacking where in the end there are many neglected students who do not go to school. In addition, the same process is also in the health sector where many puskesmas are finally empty due to lack of supervision from the province. If there is an inspection from the new province, the public health center will be crowded.
According to Papuan Youth Leader Steve Mara, controlling Papua cannot be with a long range of control. Geographically Papua is very wide. If the span of control is far, it is the same as slowing down development, so accelerating development by making development equitable means that not only Jayapura, Manokwari and Sorong are being built, but all regions. Later it can be seen that the development in Jayawijaya will be like in Jayapura, the development in Merauke will be like in Jayapura, the development in Nabire will be like in Jayapura, you can even find that in Wamena and Puncak Jaya the development will be like in Bogor and Bandung with the acceleration process and supervision carried out strictly.
I am optimistic that Papua will be well developed but it depends on us Papuans, depending on our leaders, depending on the current Papuan youth. If we want to develop Papua well, we no longer need to revolve around the “box” of rejecting it. Now how do we want to prepare ourselves, open up a discussion room, and if I am from the Lapago area, what potential does it have there, and if I am from Mepago what potential should be developed in that area, said Steve.
Steve Mara said, so this is a door that has been opened by the government to carry out development quickly, but if the Papuans are still busy with refusing to refuse and busy with political activities, they will never develop properly. Developing this area also depends on how young Papuan people can change and play an active role in development with the capacities and abilities they have.
The community must be ready to face the changes that exist because it is Papuans who will develop their own area. Therefore, the Papuan people must prepare their human resources from an early age. “Parents must be able to provide useful reading books and videos so that children can become the future of Papua and the Little Heaven that came down to earth can be realized on Earth Papua,” said Steve.
