CIDISS- The price of chili on a traditional market in Sampit, Kotawaringin Timur Regency , Central Kalimantan continued to rise, and even now was up to IDR 100.000/Kg. Such happened in Sampit, on the Keramat Market, average merchant selling chili at a price of IDR 100.000/Kg. Then, to solve the problem, sellers sell small chili per pack weighing one ounce of IDR 10.000, so it would be not pressure the consumers.
The more expensive the price of chili acknowledged influence on income sellers because of the declining purchasing power. If bought, the public didn’t buy chili as much as is usually so a benefit any seller are diminished.
The cause is suspected because of diminished supply, while local farmers limited supply of chili so prices go up. In addition to the chili, onion prices imported from Java also up high that is IDR 40,000/Kg for onion and IDR 35,000 /Kg kilograms for garlic.
Due to this, Muhammad Indra, member of the Karang Taruna or known as Youth organization in Kotawaringin Timur, motivate citizens became the example of the villagers to make utilizing of the grounds and land abandoned to become economical. A variety of plants can be grown easily yielded useful.
“Such as planting chili is easy, in the flower pot can grow, especially if our spacious lawns. When planting the chili, we don’t need to fret if the price goes up. Even if more serious, this could be a promising earnings, “said Indra.
He invites the residents of Youth organization gave an example so that the village community was further interested in harnessing the potential. Begins to fulfill the needs of its own kitchen, this could help boost the income of the community.
