The construction of the Archipelago Student Dormitory (AMN ) is the embodiment of a miniature Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, because it will accommodate a large number of students regardless of ethnicity, race, religion and any group from all regions in Indonesia.
The AMN building in Surabaya is planned to be occupied by students from various provinces studying in East Java. AMN Surabaya was built on a land area of 9,975 m 2 with a contract value of IDR 95 billion more than APBN funds. AMN Surabaya consists of 2 towers of 5 floors each for male and female student dormitories.
The construction of AMN in Surabaya has been going on since September 2021. AMN is a shared residence which is intended for all scholarship recipient students who come from various regions and are studying in Surabaya or its surroundings.
Another function that can be used in the utilization of AMN is not only as a dormitory, but also can function in organizing various coaching activities carried out by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
BIN also has a program to provide guidance on several student activities at AMN. The purpose of this coaching is to increase competence and understanding of nationalism, citizenship, Pancasila student character, state defense, entrepreneurship, leadership, and pioneering.
For this reason, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) has engaged a number of ministries and agencies to build the Archipelago Student Dormitory as a forum for uniting students from various ethnic groups, languages, cultures and religions, who come from various regions in Indonesia and are multi-university in nature.
It is planned that AMN development will also be continued in up to 6 regencies/cities in Indonesia, including South Jakarta, Bantul, Surabaya, Malang, Makassar to Minahasa. AMN development has also been stipulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 106/2021, which explains that AMN development will be able to foster and strengthen unity and integrity for all young people, especially at the tertiary level.
The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa , said that for the entire readiness process, synchronization and synergy had been continuously carried out together with the PUPR team and the East Java Regional Intelligence Agency (Binda Jatim). Starting from the process of asphalting the road leading to AMN, including efforts to be able to provide a much more aesthetic appearance from the entrance area to AMN.
AMN is indeed a very appropriate forum to be able to reflect how beautiful diversity is in Indonesia. Among the diversity and differences that exist, all of them can still become one unit without discriminating. The spirit of diversity must continue to be built and strengthened along with the development of AMN.
The main breath of AMN development is indeed a format to be able to prepare leaders who have an archipelago insight with the character of the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika embedded in their souls substantively physically and mentally. With the completion of the AMN development in Surabaya, it is hoped that it will truly become a miniature face of the Indonesian nation, which has a lot of diversity in it but in fact can still live in harmony side by side with full tolerance.
