In the 2019 Election, the Millennials are very calculated. Their role greatly influences the sustainability of Indonesian democracy. How not, the Millennials occupy 70-80 million from 193 million voters.
Along with the development of technology and the rapid use of social media that are used as fields to campaign for presidential and vice-presidential candidates or even legislative candidates, political actors are very keen to create content for winning candidates’ candidates. The easy target of promotion through social media is the Millennials. They often get exposure to election content.
Millennials are still very vulnerable to being affected by news networking on social media, it is feared to be victims of irresponsible people who spread false news.
There needs to be a critical attitude from Millennials when getting news on social media. Especially hoaxes or hoaxes can affect the Millennials psychologically to be indifferent to politics.
It is this indifferent attitude that is able to make the nation’s next generation apathetic towards politics so that they do not use their rights as good citizens. Because voting during an election is a form of political participation.
The Millennial Generation is often regarded as a community group that is least concerned with political issues. So, don’t expose hoax news to make the Millennials further away from politics and become abstentions in elections.
In fact, the present is learning for the Millennial generation as an investment of the nation. Because Indonesia’s fate lies with them. If at the moment they are apathetic towards politics, how can Indonesia have a dignified leader?
For this reason, let the millennials use your own rights intelligently by not causing hoaxes, but they are eaten up by hoaxes for the success of the peaceful and quality 2019 elections and to maintain national unity.
