The central government began distributing basic food assistance ( bansos ) to people in the Jakarta area worth Rp 600,000 per month to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic . The community also appreciates the social assistance from the Government because it can reduce the economic burden of the community in the midst of the termination of Employment Relations (PHK).
The government has officially distributed aid to the affected communities Covid-19. Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Batubara said, the provision of these basic necessities would continue for the next 3 months. In addition to Jakarta, the provision of groceries worth Rp. 600,000 per month will be given to residents affected by corona in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.
He said there were 2.6 million residents or 1.2 million families in Jakarta who would receive basic food assistance. While in the areas of Bogor, Depok, T angerang and Bekasi, there are 1.6 million people or 576 thousand families who receive basic food aid.
Juliari also hopes that the assistance can reach the families most in need, so that they remain at home and not going home.
The provision of this embryo uses a budget of Rp. 3.2 trillion, of which the budget for the provision of basic food assistance in Jakarta is Rp. 2.2 trillion. Meanwhile, the budget for the provision of basic food assistance for the Bodetabek region is allocated at Rp 1 trillion.
Juli Ari also reminded that beneficiaries to be honest, whether they were still eligible to receive aid or not, so that they should not receive double assistance.
In addition to staple foods, the government also provides social assistance through the Family Hope Program (PKH), the S embako Card, the Employment Card, as well as freeing and discounting electricity tariffs. The government also provides direct cash assistance to 9 million families outside Jabodetabek.

The assistance is part of the social safety net program , in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Social Affairs (Kepmensos) Number 54 / HUK / 2020 regarding the Implementation of Social Assistance for Basic Needs and Cash Social Assistance in handling co-19 impacts.
