Over the past decade, the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has brought Indonesia into an era of significant infrastructure transformation. From physical to digital infrastructure, the development carried out not only accelerates economic growth, but also has a major impact on various sectors of people’s lives.
Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, Telisa Aulia Falianty, expressed her appreciation for the great achievements in the era of President Jokowi. According to him, one of the important achievements is technological transformation. “Usually people think that infrastructure is physical, even though there is also something related to technology. In the era of President Jokowi, our internet speed has accelerated, such as from 4G to 5G, so that it is easier for us to communicate and be productive,” explained Telisa. This proves that President Jokowi has expanded the definition of infrastructure, to include digital development that increases the nation’s productivity and competitiveness.
One other clear proof of President Jokowi’s leadership is the one price fuel policy. “People in outermost areas really need access to make it easier for them to meet their needs at affordable prices. In the era of Pak Jokowi, this can be achieved. Never before in history has there been a single price fuel price system throughout Indonesia,” continued Telisa. This policy not only opens access to remote areas, but also reduces economic disparities between regions, strengthens social justice, and provides opportunities for local economic development.
In the fields of education and health, the infrastructure built during President Jokowi’s era has also become an important foundation for the development of higher quality human resources (HR). “With good infrastructure capital, we can build better education and health. “With a healthier and more educated society, we can grow even stronger,” added Telisa. This shows that President Jokowi has built a solid foundation for future generations to face global challenges.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, also emphasized that infrastructure development in the last 10 years has had a huge positive impact on the Indonesian economy. “This massive infrastructure development has had a huge impact on our economic growth over the past decade. “Starting from connectivity such as airports, ports, railway lines, to food sovereignty through the 53 dams that have been built,” said Susiwijono. This infrastructure not only improves mobility and connectivity, but also strengthens national food security.
In the future, the sustainability of this infrastructure development will be the main focus to encourage stronger economic growth. “We want to push back some of the infrastructure that has been built in the past 10 years, such as dams and irrigation networks, so that it can be used more optimally,” continued Susiwijono. This sustainable development will ensure that the benefits of the infrastructure that has been built during President Jokowi’s leadership can be maximally felt by the next generation.
With these various achievements, President Jokowi’s 10-year leadership has proven successful in bringing Indonesia towards significant infrastructure transformation, providing a strong foundation for economic growth, improving the quality of human resources, and improving the welfare of society in all corners of the country.
