Jayapura – President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building, Tuesday (21/3) in Jayapura. During the inauguration, the Head of State was also accompanied by the Head of BIN General Pol (Purn) Prof. Budi Gunawan who took part in initiating the birth of PYCH.
The PYCH inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of figures including Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and a number of national and regional figures to Forkominda elements.
In his remarks, President Jokowi was proud that the Papuan youth’s request to have space for self-development had been realized in PYCH.
Furthermore, the Head of State also hopes that the existence of facilities for the development of young people will also be built in other regions.
“This is the first in Indonesia in Papua, I ask that it also be built in NTT, in West Papua, then in Maluku and Aceh starting this year, so that it will be completed next year by imitating everything here, this is very good,” said President.
President Jokowi wants the development of PYCH to provide opportunities for young Papuans to develop creativity. According to him, there are still great opportunities in the land of Papua and it is hoped that the younger generation can play an active role in improving welfare.
“And we hope this can provide increased welfare for the people of Papua that we love,” said President Jokowi.
In the same place, Head of BIN General Police (Purn.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc., Ph.D. hope that PYCH can become a valuable legacy from President Jokowi.
“Through the inauguration of PYCH, it will become the President’s Gold Ink Legacy in Papua,” said the Head of BIN
Furthermore, the Head of BIN revealed that the development of PYCH was a commitment to build a Papuan talent center as a driving force for the economy and prosperity. In the future, the facility is expected to create jobs, business and economic development, as well as cultural arts.
The construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub building is the result of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in the Provinces of Papua and West Papua. Based on the Presidential Instruction, BIN initiated the development of creative facilities for Papuan youth.
