Ahead of Eid, Government Distributes Rice, Cooking Oil, BPNT, and PIP Assistance

Jakarta – The government has accelerated the distribution of various social assistance programs ahead of Eid al-Fitr in order to maintain people’s purchasing power and ensure that basic necessities remain affordable amid rising consumption during Ramadan. Several assistance programs being distributed include the Bantuan Pangan Non Tunai (BPNT), food aid in the form of rice and cooking oil, as well as educational assistance through the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP). The distribution is targeted to reach tens of millions of beneficiary families across Indonesia.

The Head of the National Food Agency of Indonesia (Bapanas), Andi Amran Sulaiman, stated that the program is a strategic step to maintain food price stability while protecting the purchasing power of the community.

“Each beneficiary family will receive 10 kilograms of rice and two liters of cooking oil per month, with distribution handled by Perum Bulog,” Amran Sulaiman said.

Overall, the rice and cooking oil assistance will be distributed to around 33.2 million beneficiary families across Indonesia. The program is also part of the government’s efforts to stabilize food prices ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

The government, through Bapanas and Perum Bulog, also reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the distribution of the food assistance. Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization at Bapanas, I Gusti Ketut Astawa, emphasized the importance of speeding up the distribution process so that the benefits can be felt by the public as soon as possible.

“It must be implemented as soon as possible, but the preparations must be thorough,” Ketut Astawa said.

The food assistance will be distributed at once for two months, covering allocations for February and March 2026. Under this scheme, each beneficiary family will receive 20 kilograms of rice and 4 liters of cooking oil in a single distribution.

In addition to food assistance, the government has also begun disbursing the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) for students from low-income families. This program provides educational financial support to ensure that students can continue their schooling without being hindered by financial constraints. The assistance varies, ranging from Rp450,000 per year for elementary school students, around Rp750,000 for junior high school students, and higher amounts for senior secondary education.

Meanwhile, the government is also distributing the Bantuan Pangan Non Tunai (BPNT) to beneficiary families to help meet their daily food needs. The assistance is provided in the form of a balance that can be used to purchase food items at e-warong or partner agents that cooperate with the government.
