The Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin pair is increasingly flooded with volunteer support from various circles of society. Not only volunteers from workers, laborers, santri and ulama, teachers, village officials, and young people, but current support comes from among the well-known scholars of Indonesian universities. After a few weeks thousands of University of Indonesia alumni gathered at Senayan and vowed to support the candidate pair 01 and there were Telkom University Alumni Volunteers engaged in social media, now it is the turn of the alumni of Andalas University, West Sumatra who want Jokowi to continue his performance as President of the Republic of Indonesia. Andalas University alumni from various classes declared themselves to support Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin.
Alumni of Andalas University from 1975 to 2011, chaired by Toni, principled that campus alumni or intellectual circles felt very much what had happened during Jokowi’s leadership. They look more at the rationality that is happening now that current development is indeed happening and it must continue. That is the spirit and reason why supporting Jokowi-Ma’ruf as NKRI leader 201-2024.
The support of Andalas University alumni was motivated by a lot of hoax news and distorting facts about President Jokowi. They don’t want good people like Jokowi to be slandered constantly. Andalas University alumni have a mission to maintain Jokowi’s high voice and electability in West Sumatra today. In particular, fortifying ordinary people from hoax news from the opposition camp.
Jokowi is indeed quite a lot of merit in West Sumatra. A lot of infrastructure development and economic progress were obtained by the community as long as Jokowi served as President. Toni was determined to win Jokowi by going directly to the community and holding meetings. Jokowi is expected to be “leafy tampek balinduang Kapanehan, tampek bataduah kahujanan” in the Minangkabau philosophy which means “a leader who can be a place of refuge in the heat of rain, and always think of his people”.
The increasing number of campus alumni who support Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin’s partner is a breath of fresh air for the political development of the homeland, where people have consciously seen and felt the effects of development and want to continue the positive conditions of the country’s socio-economic progress. The University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, Surabaya Institute of Technology, University of Jember, Gadjah Mada University, Telkom University, and Andalas University have expressed their support for Jokowi-Ma’ruf. Declaratively or not, other universities will surely follow to provide support.
Special support from Andalas University, which guards the Minangkabau community from news hoaks, is a step that should be appreciated. Currently social media and news are no longer clean because there are many facts that deliberately refracted the opposition to overthrow the stronghold 01. What is their action in ‘guarding’ the land of Minang by plunging directly into the lower classes? Let’s wait and see.
