As part of the Youth Pledge, the Government Strengthens Nutrition through the MBG Program

Jakarta – On the occasion of the 97th Youth Pledge Day, the government reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of life of Indonesia’s younger generation through balanced nutrition and character development. This effort aligns with the spirit of the Youth Pledge, which symbolizes unity, hard work, and determination to advance the nation.

The MBG program continues to expand its implementation in various regions, including South Kalimantan. The MBG program outreach event at the Pagatan Besar Village Office in Takisung District, Tanah Laut Regency, exemplifies the real-world synergy between the central and regional governments in ensuring Indonesian children receive their right to adequate nutrition.

The activity was attended by Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives Mariana, Representative of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Teguh Suparngadi, as well as Head of the Tanah Laut Regency Health Office Isna Farida, M.Kes, and hundreds of participants from various levels of society.

In her remarks, Mariana emphasized that the MBG program is a concrete manifestation of the government’s commitment under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto to building a healthy, intelligent, and quality generation of Indonesians.

“Through MBG, we not only provide free nutritious food, but also raise awareness about the importance of a healthy, balanced, and sustainable diet,” he said.

Meanwhile, the representative of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Teguh Suparngadi, added that the MBG program is not only health-oriented, but also has a significant economic impact on local communities.

“This program will meet the nutritional needs of children and pregnant women while simultaneously stimulating the regional economy. The MBG Kitchen requires food from local farmers, fishermen, and livestock breeders, creating a positive economic cycle,” explained Teguh.

The Head of the Tanah Laut Health Office, Isna Farida, M.Kes., also emphasized the importance of collaboration in maintaining the nutritional quality of the program. Nutritious food means balanced intake according to the body’s needs.

“The Health Department will play an active role in certifying MBG kitchens and training staff to ensure hygiene and nutritional standards are maintained,” he said.

Through the momentum of Youth Pledge Day, the government is calling on all elements of the nation to work together to strengthen the nutritional resilience and character of Indonesian youth. A balanced nutritional intake is not just about food, but a crucial part of preparing a generation that is physically and mentally healthy, resilient in facing global challenges, and ready to lead Indonesia towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.*
