At PUIC 19th Session, President Prabowo Reaffirms Indonesia’s Commitment to Upholding Global Order

Jakarta – The 19th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), hosted by Indonesia, marks a historic moment in the evolving landscape of Islamic parliamentary diplomacy. With the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience,” the event serves as a solid foundation for building a more just and equitable global order across various aspects of life.

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that the PUIC was born out of a shared awareness that the Islamic world needs a unified parliamentary platform to face global challenges and defend the interests of Muslims worldwide.

“Since its establishment in 1999, the union of Islamic parliaments has aimed to serve as a bridge for parliamentary diplomacy—strengthening solidarity, advocating for justice, and offering solutions to complex global issues. In today’s polarized world—marked by conflict and rivalry among major powers—this organization is increasingly important, relevant, and urgent,” President Prabowo stated.

Prabowo reaffirmed that the Indonesian Constitution (the 1945 Constitution) firmly mandates the nation to participate actively in maintaining global order—based on independence, lasting peace, and social justice. This mandate serves as a moral compass and the foundation of Indonesia’s foreign policy.

“The Indonesian government is currently implementing major reform agendas, including political and bureaucratic reform, human resource development, food and energy self-sufficiency, and the advancement of science and technology. We believe that the solutions to global problems start at home—each nation must first overcome its internal challenges,” said President Prabowo.

At the same event, Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, in her opening speech, stressed that the spirit of new emerging forces and the 1955 Asian-African Conference remains highly relevant today. For PUIC, that spirit is a source of inspiration for shaping a better global order that uplifts the Muslim world.

“That same spirit now unites us—members of the parliaments of OIC countries—with the shared determination to build a better global system for humanity: a political, economic, social, and cultural order that is humanistic and brings goodness to all, especially to Muslims and generally to all humankind,” said Puan.
