BIN Successfully Creates Young Papuan Talents

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continued his third working visit to Papua Island, Friday (7/7/2023). Jokowi will start his activities by holding a meeting with Papuan students.

Afterwards, Jokowi will open and inaugurate the Papua Street Carnival which will be held in the area of ​​the Papua Governor’s Office, Jayapura City.

In the afternoon, after carrying out Friday prayers, Jokowi will visit Pharaa Market, Jayapura Regency. There he was scheduled to review the prices of a number of food commodities and distribute assistance to traders.

Concluding a series of activities on Papua Island, Jokowi is scheduled to conduct an inspection at Waibu Agro Ecotourism, Jayapura Regency.

After that, the President and his entourage will depart for Jakarta using the Indonesia-1 Presidential Plane via Sentani International Airport, Jayapura Regency.

The Papua Street Carnival will be held for the first time on Friday, 7 July 2023, at 07.30 WIT, which is centered in front of the Office of the Governor of Papua in Jayapura.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno stated that the carnival was a celebration for creative economy actors (parekraf) throughout the Papua region.

He explained that the event which is designed to be held annually is a follow-up to President Jokowi’s directives during the inauguration of the Papua Youth Creative Hub in Jayapura on March 21, 2023.

Papua Street Carnival has the theme Papua Extravaganza (The East Great Spirit). The event was oriented towards the excitement of the Rio Carnival, the Rio de Janeiro carnival party in Brazil, considering that they are both on the beach. The plan is for the carnival to feature a parade of hundreds of carnival dresses involving thousands of performers.
