Denpasar – The High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and the Indonesia-Africa Forum II held in Bali have succeeded in reaching a number of important agreements and paving the way for strengthening global cooperation.
President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited delegates to strengthen global solidarity in taking more real and concrete actions to overcome the economic slowdown, unemployment rate, inflation, and geopolitical tensions that have disrupted the global supply chain.
“To achieve more equitable and inclusive development for developing countries, new strategies and tactical steps are needed that focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Jokowi.
The Head of State emphasized four main points. First, is the focus on achieving the SDGs which must be aligned with national and regional development priorities, including the Africa Agenda 2063 and supported by multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Second, Indonesia’s commitment to always take part in global solutions, defend the interests of developing countries, and act as a bridge builder in fighting for equality, justice, and solidarity.
“This is a consistent commitment that Indonesia has carried since the Asia Africa Conference 69 years ago,” said the Head of State.
The third point is Indonesia’s assertiveness in always opening the door to partnering with the African region, which is considered key to the global development agenda.
The Indonesia-Africa Forum 2024 has recorded business deals worth US$3.5 billion, almost six times the deals reached at the first forum in 2018.
The last is the enhancement of South-South and North-South cooperation to overcome global challenges together. With the same spirit next year, Indonesia will hold the Platinum Jubilee of the Asian African Conference, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Asian African Summit.
The IAF II Forum, which carries the theme “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063”, is a solid foundation for developing partnerships between Indonesia and African countries in the future.
Bogat Widyatmoko, Deputy for Politics, Law, Defense, and Security of the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas, explained that this forum also produced important agreements to address the global polycrisis problem.
“At the same time, it shows its leadership in fostering international solidarity in line with the commitment of the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
With the conclusion of the HLF-MSP and Indonesia-Africa Forum II, participants are optimistic that the concrete outcomes of these meetings will have a positive impact on joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
This forum has opened a new chapter in Indonesia-Africa cooperation and strengthened the shared commitment to face global challenges through inclusive and sustainable partnerships.
