All of these things cannot be separated from the full support that has been given by PBESI.
It turns out that there have been many changes and developments in the esports ecosystem in Indonesia. This has been the case since the presence of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI) which is a sports organization as well as a forum for esports athletes in Indonesia. Especially during the PBESI management era since being inaugurated in 2020, chaired by General Pol (Ret.) Budi Gunawan until the 2020-2024 period.
Budi Gunawan as the elected Chairman of PBESI for the 2024-2029 period said that in the era of the management of PB e-sports Indonesia for the 2020-2024 period, many achievements and accomplishments have been achieved, both at the national and international levels.
“At the 2022 IESF World Championship in Bali, Indonesia not only became the overall champion, but also succeeded in becoming an extraordinary host. This is the only e-sports tournament in the world, outdoors on the beach, combining sport-tainment and sport tourism,” said Budi Gunawan to the media in Jakarta, Sunday (6/10).
Budi Gunawan also revealed that the development of the organization and ecosystem of esportsIndonesia, we have a management of 9,280 people starting from the central level to the district level. We have also included e-sports in Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning sports as an acknowledgment that e-sports is one of the branches of achievement sports.
“Another important note is the international recognition of PB ESI as the only official e-sports parent organization representing Indonesia in the international e-sports federation. This is the result of the hard work of Indonesian e-sports diplomacy, which is increasingly recognized as a global force,” said Budi Gunawan.
