Jakarta – The government has recorded significant progress in its efforts to eradicate online gambling throughout 2025. The 57 percent decline in transactions is seen as tangible evidence of the effectiveness of cross-agency collaboration among the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), and Law Enforcement Agencies (APH) in keeping the national digital space clean and secure.
Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Dave Laksono, described this achievement as a concrete result of the government’s synergy in curbing digital gambling activities.
“The 57 percent reduction is not merely a statistical figure but real proof that inter-agency synergy can safeguard the integrity of our national digital space,” he said in Jakarta.
According to Dave, Komdigi’s firm action in shutting down more than 2.45 million websites and online gambling-related contents from October 2024 to November 2025 marks a major milestone in combating these illegal practices.
“The closure of millions of sites demonstrates the state’s seriousness in protecting its citizens. Online gambling is not only a legal violation but also a moral and economic threat to the nation,” he emphasized.
He also highlighted PPATK’s strategic role in tracing suspicious financial flows and mapping networks of illegal transactions.
“Without precise financial analysis, law enforcement would lose direction. This is where PPATK plays a crucial role in breaking the chain of digital crime,” explained the Golkar Party legislator.
Similarly, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana affirmed that there had been a significant decline in online gambling transaction activities throughout 2025.
“Indeed, there has been a very significant decrease—let me emphasize again—a very significant decrease in the number of online gambling transactions,” he stated.
Ivan revealed that in 2024, the total value of online gambling transactions reached IDR 359 trillion, but by the third quarter of 2025, the figure had successfully been reduced to IDR 155 trillion.
“If in 2024 online gambling transactions reached IDR 359 trillion, then in 2025 we have successfully reduced it to IDR 155 trillion,” he said.
He added that this success resulted from strong coordination under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, who emphasized the importance of national collaboration in eradicating online gambling.
“This means that, up to this point, through strong collaboration under the guidance of the President, we have achieved a 57 percent reduction in online gambling-related transactions,” Ivan stated.
Dave concluded by stressing that such cross-agency synergy must continue to be maintained and strengthened.
“This achievement should serve as momentum to build a healthy, secure, and competitive digital ecosystem. The state must not be complacent, as digital criminals continuously innovate to find loopholes,” he concluded. *
