Various elements and backgrounds of society in Papua strongly reject the anniversary of the Free Papua Organization (OPM). The reason is that so far this group has continued to carry out many acts of violence and terrorism, so that they also deserve to be labeled as a Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST).
Very firmly, a number of community groups who are part of the red and white component rejected the OPM anniversary. They stated that the intensifying narrative about the OPM anniversary itself was one of the propaganda efforts carried out by KST Papua.
Of course, because it is a form of propaganda effort carried out by the separatist gang, all people in Bumi Cenderawasih themselves must also be aware and understand that when the propaganda is successful, it has a hidden agenda, namely the aim of consolidating KST Papua so that the stability of the Unitary State The Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) will become increasingly threatened.
One of the representatives of traditional institutions in Papua, Geroge A. Awi, very firmly rejected the OPM anniversary. Not only did he refuse, but he also called on KST to immediately release the Suai Air pilot, Philips Mark Mehrtens, who they were still holding hostage.
Meanwhile, Ondoafi Besar Abisai Rollo also said that the easternmost province in the country had finally entered the framework of the Republic of Indonesia. For this reason, he asked all people in Papua not to join in making additional movements that would further damage the lives of the people there.
He conveyed this appeal specifically to all residents in Jayapura City. The Papuan community leader also said that the city of Port Numbay itself is a city that is always protected by God, so that the people of Jayapura are invited to work together to keep the city safe and conducive from all forms of disturbances to security and public order (kamtibmas).
The man who serves as Chairman of the Jayapura City Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) is of the opinion that the OPM anniversary itself is not at all a celebration or special moment for the people of Papua.
He then appealed to all levels of security forces including the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) to be able to better serve all the people of Bumi Cenderawasih, especially from the threat of the KST Papua movement which continues to threaten the safety of residents.
Regarding the situation regarding the many security and social security threats in Papua itself, which are caused by the actions of separatist and terrorist groups, according to him, it is only a small part of the people in Bumi Cenderawasih who still do not understand and they are clearly an irresponsible group and only want to destroy this nation.
The reason is that the indigenous Papuan community (OAP) itself is a group of citizens who really love peace, so that the people of Bumi Cenderawasih do not at all like or do not want many acts of violence to occur.
People in Papua are also advised not to be easily provoked by the many propaganda efforts that KST Papua continues to intensify. Because terrorist groups have been spreading a lot of fake news or hoaxes which have the potential to further damage the integrity of the nation.
On the other hand, all security forces from the Indonesian National Army (TNI) who are members of the 411 / Pandawa Mechanized Raider Battalion Task Force (Satgas) secured two firearms which were suspected to be used to attack the officers.
Head of Information for the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III, Colonel Czi IGN Suriastawa, explained that the confiscation of these weapons was carried out based on information from residents regarding locations suspected of being hiding places for separatist and terrorist groups.
At that time, security forces saw someone running towards the forest and leaving behind items that they might want to smuggle. Officers then found at least two M4 and AR 15 firearms along with magazines and air guns which were thought to belong to KST Papua in Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
After receiving the report, security forces immediately carried out a search process at a building at the Batas Batu Airport Camp which was suspected to be the KST Papua crossing point. It is suspected that the firearms that were confiscated will be used to carry out attacks on the public and officers during the OPM anniversary celebrations on December 1.
Very firmly, all elements of society, even from various circles, including traditional leaders in Papua, strongly reject the anniversary of the Free Papua Organization (OPM). The success of the security forces in securing firearms from KST which were suspected of being used to attack the public and officers during the OPM anniversary also deserves the highest possible appreciation.
