Jakarta — Indonesia’s bright future requires us to nurture unity and integrity. Calls for harmony and optimism are key to building a stronger and more advanced Indonesia.
Indonesian society is encouraged to reject various pessimistic narratives, such as the “Dark Indonesia” narrative, and to remain united in maintaining the integrity of the nation amidst the global challenges the world is facing.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Dr. KH. Marsudi Syuhud, during a discussion event at a national TV station on Thursday (April 24), themed “Maintain Unity for a Bright Indonesia.”
“We are optimistic about building the future because it is, in fact, our religious command,” said KH. Marsudi Syuhud.
He urged the public to create optimism, not spread the “Dark Indonesia” narrative that could damage harmony. The key message is to communicate to the public not to be influenced or to influence others with negative narratives about the country.
“Let’s create optimism, not by saying Indonesia is dark, but let’s make optimistic statements. Harmony can be achieved and maintained if we understand each other’s circumstances,” KH. Marsudi said.
On the other hand, KH. Marsudi Syuhud emphasized that if there are differences of opinion, they can be expressed to the public. Criticism is allowed, he continued, but it should be constructive.
“Criticism is essentially for building, not for hatred. As long as we are united towards one goal, I believe we can achieve our targets,” he added.
At the same event, Political Communication Expert Dr. Aditya Perdana stated that President Prabowo is always open and not anti-criticism.
“President Prabowo’s open attitude toward criticism and input from various parties demonstrates a strong commitment to the principles of deliberative democracy, which should be appreciated,” he said.
Dr. Aditya emphasized that the President has the responsibility and room to do many things but requires support from the public.
“President Prabowo has strong resources, both political and institutional, that provide a great opportunity to realize various promises and work programs,” Dr. Aditya explained.
He believes that President Prabowo’s success in embracing various political forces is a strategic asset in accelerating development and creating government stability moving forward.
“This situation should encourage national optimism, with the belief that the direction of government will become more constructive and inclusive,” he added.
Nation’s figures are expected to continue urging the public to play a role in maintaining harmony, preventing polarization, and strengthening the spirit of nationalism. Unity and cooperation among all elements of the nation will be the main strength in facing various challenges and national dynamics.
