Expansion of BSU Strengthens National Economic Stimulus Package

JAKARTA – The government continues to strengthen protection of workers’ purchasing power through the 2025 Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) program. This initiative is part of the five national economic stimulus packages launched by President Prabowo Subianto, targeting 17.3 million workers earning below IDR 3.5 million per month or under the regional minimum wage (UMP/UMK).

Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that the first phase of BSU distribution has reached 2,450,068 workers out of the 3,697,836 recipients designated. Data for 4.5 million prospective recipients in the second phase is currently undergoing verification.

“The first phase of BSU has been disbursed, and the rest is still in the process of being distributed directly into each recipient’s bank account. The government aims to ensure the assistance is delivered on time and to the right targets,” she said.

The program also includes honorary teachers as part of the vulnerable group. The government recorded that 288,000 teachers under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and 277,000 teachers under the Ministry of Religious Affairs will receive BSU worth IDR 600,000 for the months of June and July 2025.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani confirmed that a total of IDR 10.72 trillion has been allocated through the State Budget (APBN) to support this year’s BSU program.

“This is aimed at workers and honorary teachers earning below IDR 3.5 million or under the provincial or district/city minimum wage,” said the Finance Minister after a closed meeting at the State Palace.

Recipient criteria are based on BPJS Employment data, with key conditions including: Indonesian citizens with a valid National ID (NIK), active BPJS participants as of April 2025, a maximum income of IDR 3.5 million, and not being a civil servant (ASN), member of the military (TNI), or police (Polri), and not receiving other social assistance such as PKH during the disbursement period.

Corporate Secretary of BRI, Agustya Hendy Bernadi, stated that PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has once again been appointed as one of the main disbursement banks. BRI has prepared access to the funds through BRImo, ATMs, CRMs, and over 1.19 million BRILink agents spread across even the most remote areas.

“We are committed to being present in communities and ensuring the disbursement process is easy, secure, and inclusive,” he said.

For your information, BSU disbursement is carried out through Himbara banks (BRI, BNI, BTN, Mandiri) and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) specifically in Aceh. Workers without a bank account will receive the assistance through PT Pos Indonesia.
