For Eid 2026, the Government will allocate Rp 12.83 trillion for transportation discounts and social assistance

Jakarta, During the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period, the government is rolling out a number of strategic incentives to maintain economic stability and boost public purchasing power. This policy is part of the government’s anticipatory measures to address increased mobility, consumption, and economic activity, which typically spike during Eid al-Fitr. These incentives are designed to allow people to celebrate Eid more calmly while ensuring the economy continues to move healthily.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the government has allocated Rp 12.83 trillion for an economic stimulus package for the first quarter of 2026. The stimulus package includes discounts on transportation tickets, toll road tariffs, and social assistance (bansos).

“We are preparing a stimulus package that reflects Indonesia’s economic growth. We have allocated Rp 12.83 trillion for transportation discounts during the Eid holiday, including discounts on airline tickets,” he said.

In the energy sector, the government is also ensuring the availability and affordability of fuel and electricity during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Supply stability is a key focus to ensure uninterrupted public activity, including for small and medium-sized businesses. By ensuring smooth distribution, the government hopes to prevent price spikes that could trigger seasonal inflation.

Furthermore, incentives are aimed at maintaining food price stability. The government is strengthening distribution oversight and implementing market interventions to ensure the availability of basic necessities at reasonable prices. These efforts are crucial, given that the surge in food demand during Eid al-Fitr often triggers price increases in some regions.

The Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, explained that from a macroeconomic perspective, this series of incentives is expected to maintain the momentum of national economic growth. Increased household consumption during Eid al-Fitr is a key driver of the economy, so government policies are aimed at maintaining public purchasing power. Thus, the benefits of Eid al-Fitr are not only felt socially and culturally but also have a positive impact on the national economy.

“The government hopes that the series of incentives offered during Eid al-Fitr will maintain the momentum of national economic growth. Increased household consumption during this period is a key driver of the economy, so the policies we have prepared are focused on maintaining people’s purchasing power,” he said.

Through its incentive policy during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, the government affirms its commitment to being present among the community. It serves not only as a regulator but also as a facilitator, ensuring that religious holiday celebrations can proceed safely, comfortably, and positively impact the common good.
