The Indonesian government has firmly stated that it will not interfere in the ongoing legal proceedings regarding the alleged involvement of former Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, in the case concerning the protection of online gambling sites. Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Hasan Nasbi, emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement authorities to work independently.
“The government respects the legal process. So, let the legal proceedings run their course. And we believe that this process will eventually reveal everything clearly,” Hasan said.
He added that all parties should refrain from making premature conclusions before the judicial process is completed. According to Hasan, only the courts have the authority to determine whether someone is guilty or not.
“So, those who are guilty will be declared guilty. Those who are innocent should not be forced to take the blame. Innocent people will naturally be proven innocent. So, we just have to wait for the legal process to unfold,” he stated.
Hasan stressed that the government is not in any position to intervene in legal proceedings.
“So, from the government’s side, we respect the legal process and do not interfere in the proceedings themselves,” he said firmly.
The Head of the Presidential Communication Office also ensured that anyone summoned must comply with legal procedures.
“Just follow the legal process. We’re not interfering. As I said, those who are guilty will be proven guilty as the legal process runs its course. And those who are not guilty should not be forced to be blamed. They will also be proven innocent in the process,” Hasan explained.
Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed that a re-examination of Budi Arie remains possible, depending on developments in the investigation.
“We have previously questioned him. Of course, we may need to reconfirm if new evidence emerges,” Sigit stated. ***
