Government Continues to Boost Danantara in Key Strategic Projects

JAKARTA — The government is intensifying its support for the Agantara Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) as a driving force in financing national strategic projects. At the 2025 International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI) held at the Jakarta International Convention Center, Danantara’s role was spotlighted as a new investment entity deemed highly strategic by President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (IPK), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), emphasized the importance of Danantara as a catalyst to strengthen Indonesia’s economic structure and development. AHY noted that Danantara has consolidated over 800 state-owned enterprises (SOEs), making it not only a shareholder but also an active investor.

“Danantara holds a very strategic role as envisioned by President Prabowo Subianto,” Agus said in his speech at the ICI forum. He added, “We hope for good collaboration between ministries, Danantara, and investors. I have been in close communication with Mr. Rosan Roeslani and his team.”

The ICI 2025 forum served as a cross-sector collaboration platform between the government, international institutions, and global investors. Participants included organizations such as the World Bank, Australia’s Macquarie, and Singapore’s GIC. The event is expected to yield concrete investment agreements to support accelerated national development.

Deputy for Basic Infrastructure Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry of IPK, Rachmat Kaimuddin, also highlighted Danantara’s significant presence at the forum. “We expect Danantara to be a key player in infrastructure investments. Mr. Rosan Roeslani has a strategic role both as Danantara’s CEO and as Minister of Investment,” Rachmat said.

Besides discussing financing and synergy, the forum focused on five main issues: urban development, interregional connectivity, housing and public access, environmental solutions, and investment development. With a target of 3,000 participants from various sectors, ICI 2025 is expected to be a catalyst for accelerated development.

Meanwhile, National Economic Council (DEN) Chairman Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan sees President Prabowo’s priority programs, including Danantara’s presence, as key instruments to achieve national economic growth of 8 percent. He made these remarks responding to the World Bank and IMF’s downward revision of Indonesia’s economic growth projection to 4.7 percent for 2025 and 2026.

“The programs President Prabowo has crafted are excellent. They can create equitable growth and new economic hubs,” Luhut stated firmly. He cited the Free Nutritious Meal program (MBG) as an example of one that delivers immediate economic impact. “If we remain consistent, I believe we can reach 8 percent growth by 2028 to 2030,” he added.

Furthermore, Luhut revealed the potential for local commodities such as frankincense, seaweed, and other marine products to be developed more aggressively. He noted that investors, including Danantara, have shown interest in these sectors, especially in areas like Buleleng and Lombok, which are currently under study alongside international partners, including Berkeley University and collaborators from China.

With strengthened collaboration among the government, Danantara, and global investors, Indonesia is optimistic about ushering in a new era of more inclusive and sustainable development. The ICI 2025 event is expected to be a crucial milestone for the future of national infrastructure and economic growth.
