Jakarta – The government will again distribute social assistance (bansos) in July 2025 in order to maintain people’s purchasing power and anticipate potential economic pressures that can be felt by vulnerable groups. The distribution of this assistance is carried out in two main forms, namely cash and rice, as a concrete step to ensure the socio-economic resilience of people who meet the requirements and are entitled.
Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf said that in the Ministry of Social Affairs data, 80 percent of social assistance has been disbursed to all Beneficiary Families (KPM).
“Social assistance has reached 80 percent, including thickening social assistance, we have also reported everything to the President,” he said.
Social assistance has reached 8,028,881 recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH), or 80.3 of the total recipients. The amount of cash assistance provided remains adjusted to the basic needs structure of each target household.
“This assistance is expected to be used to meet daily needs, including food, health, children’s education, and other urgent needs,” he added.
Meanwhile, social assistance in the form of rice is distributed through cooperation between the central government and Perum Bulog, with direct distribution to regions based on predetermined regional allocations. Food assistance of 20 kilograms (kg) of rice will be immediately distributed to 18.2 million KPM starting early July 2025.
Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), I Gusti Ketut Astawa said that the distribution of rice aid will be carried out by Perum Bulog from the warehouse to the distribution points at the village or sub-district level.
“Therefore, it is important for all parties involved to coordinate and update data on aid recipients,” he said.
This program is part of the government’s commitment to managing the social impacts of various global and domestic economic challenges that can affect the welfare of the Indonesian people. Through direct assistance that touches basic needs, the government seeks to ensure that no citizen is left behind in fulfilling their rights as part of national social protection.
The government will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of social assistance, both in terms of targeting, technical distribution, and its impact on people’s lives. With cross-sector support and synergy between levels of government, the July 2025 social assistance program is expected to have a real impact in maintaining the foundation of people’s welfare amidst the dynamics of the national and global economy.
