Singapore – President Prabowo Subianto is promoting a strategic partnership between Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s state investment firm, and Danantara, Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund (SWF), to strengthen cooperation in the green energy sector and the development of sustainable industrial zones.
This encouragement was conveyed during a high-level bilateral Leaders’ Retreat between Indonesia and Singapore held recently at the Parliament House in Singapore.
“We look forward to close collaboration between Temasek and Danantara, especially in renewable energy, sustainable industrial zones, and the development of the Batam, Bintan, and Karimun areas focused on low-carbon energy and critical infrastructure,” President Prabowo stated.
Danantara, recently launched as Indonesia’s strategic sovereign wealth fund, was described by the Head of State as “Indonesia’s energy of the future.”
The fund is designed to drive long-term investments supporting future generations, particularly in the clean energy transition and green industrial zone development.
President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for Singapore’s significant contribution to direct investment in Indonesia. Last year, Singapore accounted for approximately one-third of Indonesia’s total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
“Thank you for the trust you have placed in us. We are committed to further strengthening this collaboration and partnership,” he said.
The President also had the honor of naming a special orchid after his mother, as a tribute to maternal love.
“I have learned much from Singapore, and in my view, Singapore has pioneered many successful policies,” Prabowo remarked.
Previously, Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani affirmed their commitment to accelerating waste-to-energy projects.
“We do not invest alone; we will also invite the private sector to co-invest with Danantara in waste-to-energy initiatives,” Rosan explained.
Through cross-border and cross-sector collaboration, Danantara is expected to foster strategic investments and create thousands of future green and sustainable jobs.
