Government Prepares Direct Cash Assistance for People’s Welfare to Maintain Domestic Consumption Stability

JAKARTA – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining public welfare and strengthening purchasing power through the distribution of Direct Cash Assistance for People’s Welfare (BLT Kesra) in 2025. This program is part of the national economic stimulus policy designed to ensure stable domestic consumption and continued growth of the national economy amidst global dynamics.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that BLT Kesra is a concrete manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto’s concern for the underprivileged.

“The President emphasized that no one should be left behind. BLT Kesra is a manifestation of the state’s presence in maintaining public welfare and keeping the economy turning,” he said at the program launch at the Cikini Post Office, Jakarta.

The BLT Kesra program targets 35,046,783 beneficiary families (KPM), equivalent to approximately 140 million people throughout Indonesia. Each family will receive a total of IDR 900,000 in aid for the period from October to December 2025, disbursed in a lump sum. Distribution will be made through the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) for 18.3 million families and through PT Pos Indonesia for another 17.2 million families.

According to Airlangga, this assistance not only provides social protection but also plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of domestic consumption, which is the main pillar of national economic growth.

“By maintaining people’s purchasing power, we keep the Indonesian economy moving. This is the spirit of economic mutual cooperation emphasized by the President,” he added.

Meanwhile, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf explained that recipient data validation is being carried out strictly in collaboration with local governments to ensure that aid is properly targeted.

“We are coordinating with the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and local governments to ensure that every rupiah of aid reaches those who are entitled to it. This is a testament to the government’s transparency and accountability,” he emphasized.

The program has been enthusiastically received by the public. One of the aid recipients, Wiwik, expressed her gratitude for the government’s attention.

“Thank you to the President and all the ministers. This assistance has really helped us meet our daily needs,” she said, movingly.

In addition to the BLT Kesra (Cash on Cash Assistance), the government has also launched an apprenticeship program for university graduates to expand job opportunities for the younger generation. These two programs are part of President Prabowo-Gibran’s grand strategy to strengthen the foundations of an inclusive, productive, and socially just national economy.

Through this step, the government emphasizes that the welfare of the people remains its top priority, and every economic policy launched is aimed at creating an advanced, independent, and prosperous Indonesia.
