A number of strategic policies including traffic engineering were implemented in preparation for the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta which will take place on 5 – 7 September 2023. This is one of the efforts made to maintain the smoothness and comfort of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
Indonesia has many responsibilities in a number of important world events, one of which is hosting the ASEAN Summit which is planned to be held in Jakarta. Of course this is an important moment for our country, therefore many efforts have been made to launch this important event.
The Provincial Government (Pemprov) itself is using all means to maintain the continuity and smoothness of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. One of them is through traffic engineering efforts and the implementation of Work From Home (WFH). This decision came directly from the Acting (Acting) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono who instructed directly through an appeal and circular letter, especially for private parties around the event location.
The steps taken by the Provincial Government to ensure the smooth running of the event do not stop there. To reduce congestion, Heru Budi Hartono also relies on mass transportation that is being built to support those that are already operating. Then, they also increased the number of TransJakarta bus fleets as well as MRT and LRT train support which will soon be operating.
To welcome the ASEAN Summit, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also planning other preparations, one of which is reducing carbon emissions, improving the quality of infrastructure, and providing socialization to the community. Regarding infrastructure, DKI Pemprov is also carrying out repairs and improving the quality of roads, bridges, and other public facilities, especially in the Sudirman, Thamrin and Gatot Subroto areas. Various preparations have been maximized to welcome the ASEAN Summit and ensure that the event can run smoothly and successfully.
The DKI Provincial Government also apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing infrastructure repairs. However, this really needs to be done because Indonesia is the host of ASEAN. Of course the opportunity to give your best should not be missed. Therefore, there are many things that need to be ensured as the host to host important guests from ASEAN countries this time.
On this occasion, the DKI Provincial Government is also trying to reduce carbon emissions through various means, one of which is by using electric vehicles, planting trees, and using renewable energy. Including the use of electric cars which are planned to be used by delegates coming to Indonesia. The commitment built this time is clear evidence that Indonesia fully supports efforts to reduce carbon emissions. This is because, indeed, the main goal that Indonesia will achieve this time is for the 43rd ASEAN Summit to be an environmentally friendly event.
Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has confirmed that Indonesia is ready to hold the 43rd ASEAN Summit. All preparations have been well confirmed. In fact, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of implementing the Five Point Consensus in resolving the conflict in Myanmar. He hopes that the conflict will be resolved soon because it involves humanity.
If in terms of infrastructure it has been prepared, so is security. TNI and Polri troops stand ready to collaborate to safeguard the security of this important ASEAN summit. TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono said that the security for the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta was similar to the security for the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022. Therefore, the question of security will not be much different, that is, there is ring 1 security carried out by Paspampres (Presidential Security Forces), then ring 2 and ring 3 with territorial troops.
Indonesia’s big event this time involved all important ministries and institutions that functioned to make the event a success. This is because the organizing committee for the 43rd ASEAN Summit is managed directly by a national committee consisting of related ministries and institutions. The DKI Provincial Government, which is inseparable from important government institutions, also collaborates with the central government to prepare the entire series of events. How could it not be, the 43rd ASEAN Summit was attended by 26 countries and international organizations. Of course this makes Indonesia once again the main focus of other countries. Therefore, we as a nation of Indonesia also have to show that the hosts are ready to welcome the delegates and treat them well.
The highest appreciation is also given to related parties such as the Provincial Government
